Series 3 GM Post Intro
Player: Doc Who
Character: Tim Long
You are in the city of Glenluce, along the shore of Lake Adrin. Glenluce is the capitol of the Duchy of Ferramentum, is the third largest city in Velitrium and is growing rapidly.
Your home is the Village of Gavle, some 15 miles south and east of the city. Gavle is a large village of almost a thousand people, but its principle claim to fame is the Monastary located there. The monks were responsible for teaching you to read and write, as well as your religous education. The Abbot recognised quite early that you had magical aptitude and was able to arrange your entrance into the Academy of Sorcery down in Drunmore.
Traveling to Drunmore was the furthest you'd ever been from home and your sojurn at the Academy was a real eye opening experience. You graduated the Academy about six months ago and returned to your family homestead. Your father, who had encouraged your studies, had died before seeing you graduate.
You remained in Gavle for several months, then came to Glenluce to seek your fortune and further your career. You figure as an Academy trained mage, it shouldn't be hard to find a position that pays well.
Glenluce is renown for its artisans, craftsmen and engineers. As the closest city to the Iron Hills and the Dwarven stronghold located there, it benefits and profits from traffic with the Dwarves. Glenluce's Artisan quarter produces almost 50% of all the manufactured goods in Velitrium. Though called the Artisan Quarter, it in fact occupies almost 40% of the entire city. Dwarves are a common sight in the Quarter, as are their close cousins the Gnomes. The two groups are here both to trade products and raw materials, as well as to run factories and shops themselves. If it can be made, it can be found here in Glenluce. It has been your idea to market your magic skills in the Artisan Quarter, which is the reason you came to Glenluce. You have a distant cousin in the city, who as a favor to your mother, has agreed to put you up for a few weeks until you can get some funds together and get a place of your own.
PBEM Series 4 GM POST # 1
Character: Tim Long
It is early morning in Glenluce, you leave your cousin's house, shortly after breakfast, to set about finding some form of gainful employment.
You know that your best hope is in the Artisan Quarter. Perhaps with a Dwarven craftsman or a skilled human
artificer.
You set off through the streets in the direction of the Artisan Quarter.
PBEM Series 4 PC POST # 1
Character: Tim Long
I try to find a Dwarven craftsman. If that fails I will try to find an enchanter to work with.
Keep ears open. Try to find out if there is a myth of a 2000 pt powerstone. Don't ask about it just try to hear
about it. (I would like to quest for a 2000 pt powerstone.)
Also look for a Traing groud. To play with my bow and sword on.
PBEM Series 4 GM POST # 2
Character: Tim Long
The streets are already filling up with people going about their daily buisness. As you pass through the band of shops and stores that lie between the residential section of town and the Artisan Quarter, you can see in a small square off to your right, that a slave auction is beginning.
(There are common areas where archery butts are set up for all to use. The Crown encourages its citizens to practice with bow and crossbow.)
(You have NEVER, in all your schooling and training, EVER, heard of a 2,000pt Power Stone.)
PBEM Series 4 PC POST # 2
Character: Tim Long
Keep looking for Dwarven craftsman that will hirer me. And look for library that will come handly later.
PBEM Series 4 GM POST # 3
Character: Tim Long
As you get deeper into the Artisan Quarter you will begin to see shops that either have Dwarves working in them or, are affiliated with Dwarves.
(What type of craftsman are you looking for?)
(You will not find Enchanters doing buisness in these type of shop/stalls. Too public, anyone can walk in off the
street and disturb their casting.)
(There are no public libraries anywhere in Velitrium. All libraries are private. You are an Academy trained mage.
You had, and may continue to have, access to their library, which is one of the finest in the Kingdom.)
PBEM Series 4 PC POST # 3
Character: Tim Long
I conture to look for a job. As a shopkeeper selling weapons.
(How do you do pay off for work at a job?)
(I also want to later if possible learn healing spells. Could I borrow the book and return it when I am done? I.e. so
I can study when shop is slow.)
PBEM Series 4 GM POST # 4
Character: Tim Long
There are whole streets where most of the shops deal in either weapons or armor. However you don't see any
advertising for 'Help Wanted.'
(Most jobs pay either weekly or monthly. Working in a shop, sweeping up etc, you can expect maybe $150 a month.)
PBEM Series 4 PC POST # 4
Character: Tim Long
I will return to my cousin's house. (Is my cousin's house are a fram or is it a house in town. I think from the way we left his house it is in town.) If so I will go find an Inn. Alon the way I will keep a look out for for a place to get a job. If I get to the Inn I want to see if there are any post wanting help.(Work, Quests, ect.)
PBEM Series 4 GM POST # 5
Character: Tim Long
You are in the City of Glenluce. Your cousin's home is in the residential quarter. You gather your things, your family will tell you that you don't have to leave, but if you insist they will give the names of a couple reputable inns.
(In a society where probably 85% can't read, there aren't many 'Help Wanted' signs of any kind.) However, your
cousin will tell you that there is a wall in the market square where public notices are posted and employers do
on occaission place posts there.
PBEM Series 4 PC POST # 5
Character: Tim Long
I level my stuff there. I am looking for work still. The Inn is just one more place to look. Maybe as help and if I don't find a place to work there I will go to this wall that my couson's tell me about. I want a job befor I move out.
If nothing is there I will go to the Town guard. And see if there will take me as a Battle Mage.
If both of these don't work out. I will go find the library. And start to study creat water.
PBEM Series 4 GM POST # 6
Character: Tim Long
After a couple tries you find an innkeeper who will offer you a job tending the bar at night and sweeping up. He'll pay you $4 per night plus tips.
(As I said before. There are NO PUBLIC LIBRARIES. And mages do not lend spell books out. You must either find one as treasure, steal one or pay, through the nose, to do the research.)
PBEM Series 4 PC POST # 6
Character: Tim Long
I thank the Innkeeper for the job. I now go about try to find a quest to start. I will go treasure hunting.
From post #3 (There are no public libraries anywhere in
Velitrium. All libraries are private. You are an Academy
trained mage. You had, and may continue to have, access to
their library, which is one of the finest in the Kingdom.)
I ment to go to this library.
PBEM Series 4 GM POST # 7
Character: Tim Long
