Dukejr01: Corren rows over to what he assumes is the Arcuballista.
Missiledine: Several of you had taken some hits and you were looking for a place to land

Missiledine: The weapon, which is now discharged, has been set up under a thin shelter of branches, it is aimed along its trigger line, a shallow
rope stretched across the channel
Dukejr01: Corren gets out and examines it. can it be reset?
Missiledine: Yes, it can be reloaded, though you don't see any ready ammo
FinLongham: I start with frist aid on myself and then move on to dawn

Docportal: I stand up and start collect the arrows fired at us.
Dukejr01: "What do you think? should we camp for the night? maybe retrieve some of these arrows and use it ourselves?" Corren asks Rolb

Missiledine: Rolb shrugs, "Camp, aye. But lug that bugger abot.. Nah, not me."
Dawn12: i cast shield spell on me
Dukejr01: "I mean camp near thishere."
Docportal: and on the out side of the boat also.
Missiledine: ok, you can recover four intact
Missiledine: ok Dawn
Dukejr01: Corren looks about for a campsite.
FinLongham: How are the wouned holding up?
Missiledine: Dawn, how much PD are you casting for and how long will you keep the spell going? (Do you have that info?)
Missiledine: you bind their wounds
Dukejr01: any good cover for a campsite?
Missiledine: the area around the arrow machine is fairly dry.. There is also the log jam at the far end of the channel, it has some embankment along
one side
Dukejr01: Corren resets the trap and puts the four arows back into it. largely so the rope is not sticking out of the water. then lets head over there
FinLongham: <I forgot were I got hit. Can I row?>
Dukejr01: corren tries to cobver up any evidence that the trap was sprung.

FinLongham: I row the boat over to were Corren is pointing
Missiledine: You tie up along side the log jam and have a few feet of sand bar around it to camp on. It may be dry but it is still cold and damp
Dukejr01: we make camp, Corren suggest Rolb see to fin and Dawn's wounds since he is skilled at that. Corren sets up his hammock.
Dukejr01: tie off the boats. use moss and branches to camo the campsite
Docportal: As soon as Fin get the boat over to the bank then I will hop out and take the fishing net with me and set up a hammock for Dawn and
my self.
Dukejr01: Corren breaks out food and water, he offers some whiskey to the wounded.
Dukejr01: if Corren can use the hanging mos to break up the outlines of the boats he will

Missiledine: Ok, Rolb will take a look.
Missiledine: right... You set up camp, cold?

Missiledine: it is getting dark and gloomy.. Though it is winter there is still a lot of wildlife active in the swamp'

Dukejr01: Corren eats quickly wraps himself up in his fur cloak and goes to sleep in his hammock.

Missiledine: Rolb takes first... It is getting foggy... The sky is overcast, it will be a very dark night

Dukejr01: is it possible to have a torch ready to light? can we get some coals hot so that in case of night attack....

Missiledine: Okay.... Everyone settles in... It is dark, damp and cold.. The night is filled with all sorts of strange sounds
Missiledine: several hours pass and in the distance you hear a strange noise... it sounds like....
Missiledine: a gong
Dukejr01: Corren wakes up. he peeks out and tries to locate the sound.
Missiledine: The deep tone rings once, twice, three times. Then falls silent
Missiledine: You would guess that it is from the South East, approximately. Roughly in the direction you think Sharkey's lair is

Missiledine: You hear him mutter, "Supper bell for summat."
Dukejr01: Corren goes back to sleep
Missiledine: The rest of the night will pass quietly
Missiledine: The sky brightens some in the morning, but it is a foggy, overcast day with no sign of any change ahead
Dukejr01: Cold breakfast. Corren takes down camp.
Dukejr01: Corren tries to wash a bit and looks for bugs.
Missiledine: Gathering your gear, you load the boats. You have camped on the right side of the log jam, the left end has a clear, but narrow channel
around it. That is the way you have to go
Docportal: I wake Dawn and we try to get out of bed together
Missiledine: <That's easy... You fall.>
Docportal: <Take the trap down.>
Dukejr01: Corren climbs over the logjam and checks it for traps
Missiledine: you can't see anything odd
Docportal: Ok I get up and help dawn up and go clean up.
Dukejr01: k, we continue. corren keeps his eyes peeled for sentries
Dawn12: i get out and start to wake up as i wake alitttle
Missiledine: once you have all eaten and packed up you work your way around the log jam and continue on
Missiledine: There is a layer of fog at water level, it is perhaps 2 feet thick... just enough to obscure your vision
FinLongham: I will row slowly
Dukejr01: we proceed a lottle slower, keep th boats in sight of eachother. actually, this might help us sneak closer more easily
Missiledine: the channel meanders for several miles, then, as you round a bend, you see ahead of you a wall or pallisade of logs that extends two
thirds of the way across the stream

Dukejr01: stops and quietly backpaddle

Docportal: I jump down and try to help fin paddle.
Missiledine: The pallisade is about twelve feet high. It is built of heavy logs set closely together. Judging from the growth of vines it has been
there for some time
Dukejr01: is there any land that we can stand on or use to stealth closer?
Missiledine: Jump down Doc? Your in a row boat?
Docportal: Grab paddle and start to row.
Missiledine: The banks are little better then foliage covered mud
Dukejr01: row where? we are stopped
Docportal: <I don't know to the nut house.>
Dukejr01: <i guess>
Dukejr01: Okay. corren looks for a tree he can climb to overlook the pallisade
Missiledine: The wall starts on the right bank, up in the heavy growth, and extends to just short of the left bank
Docportal: <I wish someone had walk though wood>
Missiledine: There is a channel break that will allow the boats through between the wall and the mud
Dukejr01: k.
Missiledine: There are several overhanging branches that you could stand up and climb into
Dukejr01: Corren takes off his cloak and climbs the tree. he tries to get a good vantage point on the pallisade
Docportal: Ok we will let Corren and Rolb take the lead on this one.
Missiledine: Corren, you can climb high enough to see over it... Beyond the wall, you would guess twenty feet or so, there is a second wall of
similar construction. It starts on the left bank and extends part way to the right. Beyond that is
Missiledine: a third wall that starts on the right and extends left
Dukejr01: are they manned?
Missiledine: not that you can see
Dukejr01: is it possible to climb onto another tree?
Docportal: Do I see any marking for underwater skeletons?
Missiledine: they appear to be a simple curtain wall of logs set in the channel bottom
Missiledine: no, you don't see anything like the blazes
Missiledine: Clambering from tree to tree will be tricky
Dukejr01: k. got that. defensive works. well done, they could hold of quite a force here.
Docportal: "Well we have one thing on our side there are no blazes anywhere I can see."
Dukejr01: Corren climbs down, he draws oput what he saw for Rolb and talks in a low voice.
Missiledine: Rolb says, "Ya dunno need to see blazes ta recognise a trap."
Dawn12 has left the room.
Dukejr01: Corren checks on both sides of the channel. would it be possible to bypass the defensive works?
Missiledine: "A hal penny to a farthing there's bloody undead in there."
Dukejr01: Corren nods
Dawn12 has entered the room.
Missiledine: you might be able to blunder waist deep through the mud, but not with the boats. They sited this carefully
Dukejr01: how about teh trees? are they like othe swamp trees with a root sytem around the base? jump from tree base to tree base.
Missiledine: yes, they have large root systems
Missiledine: in some places that might offer footing. in some places not.
Dukejr01: Corren will get out of the boat onto one and try to find a way around the flank, if we can take the defensive works from the flankm it will be easier to roll
up the undead guards
Missiledine: Won't really be able to tell without jumping onto it
Missiledine: Rolb frowns. "Watch yersel laddie, that area won't be empty."
FinLongham: <That is 5 row to see if it is going to brake under one of us.>
Dukejr01: Corren will go first, he will have his shield slung, his sword on his back and a spear in hand. cna use that for walking/probing
Dukejr01: "aye"

Dukejr01: Corren carefully prods with his spear first
Missiledine: Rolb says, "Lad, just what are ye plannin ere? The ghoulies will be under water."
Dawn12 has left the room.
Dukejr01: Corren pauses. "Got any other ideas?
Missiledine: "An we still hafta draw the boats through yon channel
Dukejr01: "Aye. was thinking we could clear the undead assuming there are any before moving the boats."
Missiledine: Rolb says, "How about ye mages, any ideas of yers?"
Dukejr01: Corren looks up into the trees, sees if he can spot any routes using ropes/climbing/acrobatics/
Missiledine: "But I dunno think they'll come out for ye, they be a waiten fer the boats to come on by."
Docportal: "I have no ideas."
Docportal: "Nothing that I know will work under water."
Missiledine: "Yer the one who was keen on makin waves. Can ye make one big enough to knock these bits of drift over?"
Dawn12 has entered the room.
Dukejr01: Corren tries climbing a different tree to see if he can spot any undead
Missiledine: "Collapse em on top of the undead?"
Missiledine: You are too far away to see directly down into it, but what you can see looks clear
Docportal: "Yes I be keen on makin waves but I am not up to full power yet. So that is out of the question for now."
Dukejr01: hmmm...... are the palisades climable?
Missiledine: probably
Docportal: Are swamp gases?
Missiledine: eh?
Dukejr01: okay, what kind of distance are we talking about? can Corren throw a grapple and climb into a neighboring tree and make his way to the palisade that
way?
Docportal: Are there swamp gasses in this area?
Missiledine: you don't know
Dukejr01: <well, we ate cold beans last night>
Missiledine: you don't even know what swamp gases are
Docportal: "Can someone tell me if there is any gases in this area?"

Docportal: <OK forget it then>
Missiledine: you have no knowledge of geology or even what methane is
Dukejr01: about how far is the palisade?
Missiledine: at present you are about 100 feet
Dukejr01: hmmm.....can we use a grapple and haul a boat off channel around hte pallisade?
FinLongham: "Are you nuts?"
Dukejr01: water is, what, five feet there?
Missiledine: you mean drag it across the mud while your in it?

Missiledine: the channel is probably deeper then that, you cant touch bottom with an oar without submerging an arm
Dukejr01: "I am thinking that any undead guards are not going to react effectively if at all to something unexpected"
Missiledine: "Aye, but what? If it's too far off their orders they shan't react at all."
Dukejr01: "Aye. I was hoping to do that by going off the course."
Missiledine: "But we still hafta get the boats through their."
Missiledine: There
Dukejr01: "if we had time we could chop down trees and make a path."
Dukejr01: how hard would it be toi drage unloaded boats thru the mud?"
Missiledine: Just walking will be a job
Dukejr01: "I am thinking that we could try to find a way behind the palisade, then roll up the undead and once they are clear, then retrieve the boats.
Missiledine: It's possible I suppose, but you will be hours at it
Missiledine: "I dunno think they'll come outta water fer ye lad."
Dukejr01: "you mean if a couple of us are on the palisade, the undead will just stay down?"
Missiledine: "Mebbe some will come out. But I think their job is to stop any boats from passin by."
Missiledine: "There is sure to be wagon load of en in there."
Dukejr01: "Okay. that makes sense. then it will make it easier for us to dstroy them. two or three of us go around. once there, we destroy any undead we find..."
Dukejr01: "then we draw out some of the rest by having a boat approach and retreat. repeat until we get them all
Dukejr01: <test>
Missiledine: Rolb shrugs, "Good as any plan I ken"
Missiledine: "I wonder though..."
Missiledine: He looks at the wall for awhile
Dukejr01: Corren pauses
Missiledine: "Those vines, they mek me think that the bloody sticks ave been there a few years. I wonder how sturdy they really be?"
Dukejr01: Corren considers.....
Dukejr01: "knock em down on the undead? Axe work"
Missiledine: "If we could knock em over.... They'd trap the little bastards underneath."
Dukejr01: "Explosive fireball would do that...."
Dukejr01: Corren looks at the mage......
Docportal: "I think I could do that."
Dukejr01: "there are three of them."
Docportal: 2 level 3 ex fire ball each should do it.
Missiledine: "Aye, but they aren't as tall as their spacing."
Missiledine: "That will make a wee bit of a noise, won't it?"
Dukejr01: how much noise does a ex fb make?
Docportal: "That is the only thing I see wrong with this plan. They would know about them."
Dukejr01: maybe a few regular fireballs instead
Missiledine: A BIG one? A lot... Much more then a gunshot
Dukejr01: Corren grunts "we need surprise."
Docportal: "They would see the smuok from the fire."

Dukejr01: or should Corren just sneak up there and use his axe?

Missiledine: from here you can't tell just how the pallisade is assembled

Missiledine: It could be each log set individually and close packed. They could be lashed together

Missiledine: "One last thought..."
Dukejr01: Corren pauses again
Docportal: "I don't think plan A will work."
Docportal: "How about we just climb the walls and attack?"
Missiledine: "If we take out two or three logs, just enough to squeeze the boat through down near the mid walls opening..."
Missiledine: "Climb the walls and attack what? The water?"
Dukejr01: Corren is obviously anxious to press on.....
Docportal: "Climb the walls and attack whatevery is on the far side of number 3."
Dukejr01: "Undead ae probably in the water waiting.
Missiledine: "There is a water filled channel behind each wall"
Dukejr01: "Okay. so we take out the middle wall's center logs. then what? rush thru?
Missiledine: hang on guys, brb
Docportal: Yes so you climb 1 then walk on the bank that should be there and climb on to the next wall
Docportal: <Umm I think we have losted Fin. He is idle for almost 30 minutes

Missiledine: Rolb was thinking of taking out logs in the first wall opposite the existing gap in the second. Then you have passed two of the three
walls
Docportal: <Ok I think we need to call it here soon. I am falling asleep here and I think fin is gone.>
Dukejr01: sounds good. same plan?
Missiledine: <Ok Doc>
Missiledine: Rolb says, "THe last channel will be the sticky one."
Docportal: "Ok then pull the logs and lets get this under way."
Dukejr01: okay, lets get moving.
Dukejr01: Corren will make shure his axe is sharp. it is, of course, but he double checks.
Missiledine: let me make sure we are clear on this. Cut out say three logs in the first wall. Push the boats through and through the existing gap on
the second...Right?
Docportal: "Yes"
Dukejr01: that is the plan,. though I am thinking that is where the undead will be.
Missiledine: Then run down the remaining channel infront of the third wall?
Docportal: "yep"
Missiledine: "Cuttin the logs may bring em out fer ye."
Dukejr01: Corren on point.
Dukejr01: is there any cover for a acruballista trap like before?
Missiledine: ok... you row on down the channel till you are close to the wall.... None on this side of the first wall. Beyond that... who knows
Dukejr01: Corren hews at the logs
Missiledine: you move to the extreme right end and start cutting
Dukejr01: Corren puts his back into it
Dukejr01: are they lashed together or simply close?
Missiledine: the logs, tho massive, have been there for a long time and the wood is soft.. They are just close
Dukejr01: Corren chops them in turn and then pushes on them
Missiledine: Corren starts hacking away... Rolb gets out a camp axe and starts to
Missiledine: "Keep watchin the water while we chop!" He growls
Docportal: I watch the water.
Dawn12: i have my sword ready in my hand
Missiledine: Your hacking is making the logs thrumm from the blows and wood chips are flying everywhere
Missiledine: Corren, you have the bigger axe and make quicker work of your post
FinLongham: I ready my weapons. after trieing them to me with some of the rope. about a foot of rope for each.
Missiledine: YOu push and it begins to lean in under your weight
Docportal: I will follow what Fin has done. with the rope.
Dukejr01: Corren doesn't pause, he keeps hewing
Docportal: I thinke make sure that every thing in the bat is in the fishnet and tied down.
Docportal: *then
Missiledine: Ok, yopu chop some more and push again, the log leans further out
FinLongham: I get ready to row for all I am worth when they open the door.
Missiledine: Rolb's log begins to lean in as well
Missiledine: You see the water on the other side seems to be churning under the surface
Dukejr01: Corren says "Looks like company on the other side"
Missiledine: With a muffled 'crack' Corren's log falls free and splashes down on the other side
Dukejr01: Corren starts on another. we need tree out?
Dukejr01: three
Missiledine: The log is damp and somewhat water logged and goes under... The churning stops
Missiledine: yes, three
Dukejr01: cool 8-)
Dukejr01: Corren hacks another
Missiledine: You start in on the third while Rolb finishes the second
Missiledine: You notice that bits and pieces of wood are surfacing where the log went under...
Docportal: I watch the water more in all areas.
Dawn12: i do also
Dukejr01: "Do you see that Rolb?"
Dukejr01: "Something chopping up the log?"
Missiledine: As Rolb's log starts leaning past the point of no return the first log comes slowly to the surface... Its entire length is badly hacked and
scored
Missiledine: "Aye, that changes the game a wee bit."
Missiledine: "They'll be after the boat itself."
Dukejr01: Can we chop the palisade down on top of them?
Docportal: "I think I can get us by these, whateverys, with my wave spell. Do you want to try? I most like will be no good at the other end."
Missiledine: Rolb's log splashes down, going under like the first. More bits and pieces come to the surface
Missiledine: "We'll be cuttin it don one log at a time, it canna take out that many."
Dukejr01: "Chop the whole wall and them psuh them down at once?"
Missiledine: "If ye think it'll work... What do ye plan?" Rolb says to Fred
Dukejr01: <remember we have 2 boats>
Docportal: "I think we tie your boat behide us and I make the boat I am move as fast as I can."
Dukejr01: Corren stops from the last stroke on his log.
FinLongham: "I will row also to try to help with the speed."
Missiledine: Since the logs aren't lashed together, just minimally so from the vines, its not likely you could push them all down at once
Missiledine: "Can ye navigate the two turns?" Rolb asks
Missiledine: "It dunno do us any good to crush the bows against yon far wall."
Docportal: "I think so, I have not try to do this in a small area like this but we are pressed for time."
Dukejr01: Corren looks in on the third wall. Can he Climb a tree and get to it via rope? cut a channel to we have a straigh shot?
Missiledine: You will need to cross twenty feet and make a hard left, 90 degree turn. Then proceed 40 some feet and make a hard right, another
90 degree turn
Missiledine: possibly
Dukejr01: id we have a straigh shot and we cut a couple logs down to keep them busy we might make it thru
FinLongham: "That is the only way I see to do it also"
Missiledine: "Aye... That might do it, especially if yon wizard can get us some speed."
Docportal: "Ok now how do you two get over to that wall?"
Dukejr01: Corren suits words to action, he slings his axe and climbs up a tree. uses a rope to swing over to the third wall.
Dukejr01: "I will go."
Missiledine: <Ok jungle boy... lets see how you do...>
Dukejr01: Corren has climbing harness.
Dukejr01: he takes two ropes and some pitons.
Missiledine: you climb up easily enough and manage to work your way across the forty feet between the outer walls
Missiledine: You lower yourself to a few feet above the water... It will be impossible to cut without getting wet
Dukejr01: Corren will sit astride the third wall. lean over and chop a couple feet off teh top of a log, use that as a seat and repeat
Missiledine: ok... I got it
Dukejr01: a bit more work but safer and sure
Missiledine: It takes longer that way, but it keeps you out of the water
Dukejr01: right
Missiledine: While Corren does that, Rolb will take out a fourth log, not letting it fall but having it ready to go
Dukejr01: corren will drop the logs off either side to see what happens.
Missiledine: "Gettin the boats over the broken stumps may take a bit of exercise." Rolb calls
Dukejr01: "Want me to climb back to help?"
Missiledine: On the outer side the logs submerge then immediately surface and float away. On the inner side they stay underwater only to surface
all chopped up
Missiledine: "We'll need you over there as well."
Dukejr01: okay. corren will only send on that way. he makes amental note to retrieve it so that it doesn't go floating past sharkey' camp and alert them
Dukejr01: "Good point. I will make ready to haul you across. No undead under the water on the far side"
Missiledine: Finally, after much back breaking work, you have cleared two gaps, four logs wide on the up end, three on the down.
Dukejr01: "maybe you should all be in the first boat so the towed boat is lighter and can bump over by itself"
Missiledine: There is still a lip of logs at the water level that you must get the boats over
FinLongham: "Yes, but we should be able to clear that if all us are in the back of the boat."
Dukejr01: do the logs move at all? can they be pushed over?
Missiledine: Rolb will be ready to knock the fourth log down when all is set
Missiledine: the stumps? No they are pretty sturdy
Dukejr01: Corren will chop a fourth log as well to keep the buggers busy underwater
Missiledine: ok
Dukejr01: "ready"
Missiledine: Ok Doc, exactly what are you doing?
Docportal: Ok I casted shape water make 3 hills, one on the left, right and back side of the first boat. then move forwards as fast as I can go.

Missiledine: they are armed with what appears to be wide bladed bronze daggers and are stabbing and digging at the wood
Missiledine: You slash at one with your axe... hitting it and knocking it loose
FinLongham: I will row the boat to the bank. and try to get both on shore.

Missiledine: You beach your boat prow first in the mud... Rolb is pulling hard to bring the second boat close enough to hit the undead
Dukejr01: okay. corren will climb over to help thou it will robably be all over by the time he gets there.

Missiledine: when the second boat comes along side Rolb and Dawn are in posistion to attack the two remaining skeletons
Docportal: I cast a ice sphere, 3pts, at one of the skeletons.
Missiledine: The spell works, but you miss

Missiledine: Dawn, you hit...taking the arm off the skeleton and causing it to fall away
Missiledine: Fin, you move sternwrd, dropping the oars. When you do you overblance the stern and starboard side where Rolb and Dawn are
already fighting, causing the starboard gunwale to ship water and Rolb and Dawn to loose their balance
Missiledine: Rolb goes overboard with a roar... Dawn keeps her footing, just

Missiledine: There is no dry spot...You get out of the boat and sink past your knees in muck
