Dukejr01: Jim is making up herb rules for use in his campaign. there are herb rules in Camelot. I wanted to scan them.
Missiledine: Neither one of you owns a scanner? I was in Office Max and they had them for $49!
Missiledine: Get with the information age!
Dukejr01: I am lazy. maybe I will get my network up and going an buy a scanner
Dukejr01: I will probably paint the basement first

tacit01: that's a utility bill... now that it's warming up, maybe
Dukejr01: most of the snow is actually gone here.
Dukejr01: areas with permanent shade still have it.

Missiledine: Ok.... When we last played... The Sacarium Guard and the Abbot had arrived in force and were geared up to clean out the Fangs...
Dukejr01: Right. How many guides will they need and do they want to go to the place wher Athamr found the skeletons first?
Missiledine: After completeing the ritual clensing and burning of the headless corpse, the Abbot washed his hands and exchanged a few words
with his people. They will hitch up the coach for the trip out to the fortress. The Abbot is not inclined to walk that far and its hard to imagine him
straddling a horse
Dukejr01: Okay. Athamar heads out the Fangs as the coach is being readied. He takes his men and Lord Boma's troops.
Missiledine: He calls you over, "Lord Athamar, would you be kind enough to arrange a hamper of food? I expect we will be out there quite awhile
and I hate missing a meal."\
tacit01: Jacinta will go along (of course)
Dukejr01: Good idea. Athamar talks to Gallus and arranges for food to be prepared. a hot meal at neentime for the troops will be a good idea if it is possible.
maybe have some militia deliver it in a wagon
Dukejr01: noontime
Dukejr01: we should also take a hamper with us.
Dukejr01: I thought of doing the food thing this afternoon, but forgot to mention it.
Missiledine: Once everything is ready the Abbot climbs into the coach and the whole cavalcade heads out
Dukejr01: okay. are we on the way to the Fangs already?
Missiledine: <The Abbot doesn't forget things like that>
Missiledine: yes
Dukejr01: Don't forget some wine and beer for the men and hte Abbot
Missiledine: As the main body starts up the slope the ring of pickets will contract, freeing more troops for the assault...The Sacarium Guard pours
into the fortress and quickly occupies the main courtyard and covers all the entrances
Dukejr01: good.
Dukejr01: maybe the pickets should be militia with a stiffening of Sacrum Guard?
Missiledine: The coach will be left outside, the narrow passage is too tight to negotiate. The Abbot grumbles about that but struggle bravely
onward... Soldiers bring along a portable folding chair and a bunch of boxes and cases
tacit01: <the sacrifices a man of the cloth must make...>
Dukejr01: is there any way that A can use Shape earth or stone to make it easier?
Missiledine: "Let them do their job,Athamar." The Abbot waves away your suggestion. "If our enemy gets desperate enough to attempt a break out
your militia won't be able to stop them."
Dukejr01: "Of course, your Reverance."
Missiledine: <Not in a convenient period of time>
Dukejr01: How many militia are along in this little fiesta?
Missiledine: Soon the Abbot is settled on his seat on the upper level where he has a good view of the procedings... He waves to the Lieutenant.
"All right young man, lets get the show started."
Missiledine: <All of them, unless you put some in the manor house>
Dukejr01: Athamar would like a few left with Gallus to guard th manor and deliver lunch etc. run messeges.
Dukejr01: A distributes cont lights
Missiledine: Six of the Guard are opening up the cases they brought up. They are removing bronze tubes, each about three feet long and shaped
like a dragon. The dragons tail curves up and over the back of the tube. There are two small wings at the rear. The mouth of the dragon is a
flared opening. The tube is maybe 4" in diameter. The men open a plug at the rear and pour in a pints worth of liquid.
Dukejr01: A blinks and watches silently. is it magic that he can tell?
Missiledine: Then they light a small wick in the mouth and begin pumping the tail back and forth. It appears hinged and the tube makes a hissing
sound with each repetition.
Missiledine: No, no magic here
Dukejr01: <flamethrowers. cool>
Missiledine: The Abbot sees your interest. "Ever see a Drake before? No?" He waves one guard over. "Please show Lord Athamar what our little
toys do."
Dukejr01: A watches
Missiledine: The Guard finishes pumping, aims the open end of the tube at a scrub bush about six feet away, and squeezes the two wings
together. There is a hiss and a jet of flame about 6' long shoots out and ignites the bush. The guard starets pumping again
tacit01: as does J, if she can
Missiledine: Everyone can see the demonstration
Dukejr01: "Useful that. No magic"
Dukejr01: nods to the guard
Missiledine: "Dwarven design of course. All the best weapons are. They use them to defend their tunnels. Nasty toy in a confined space." The
Abbot comments
Dukejr01: "This place has plenty of that, Your Reverance"
Missiledine: "Yes. Well there are six drakes, so lets set up six teams." He waves to the officer to "Get on with it."
Missiledine: "Now, Lord Athamar. How many of your people can we count on?"
Dukejr01: "I have eight ergulars, plus 10 that Lord Boma was kind enough to send, and 14 militia."
Missiledine: The six teams will have three Sacarium Guards each. Two are staying with the Abbot, the rest are on picket. The two priests will each
lead a team.
Missiledine: "Take your 18 men at arms and divde them amongst the teams
Dukejr01: okay that leaves 3 troops for each team plus two militia.
Missiledine: We'll use the militia to help hold the outside." The Abbot decides
Dukejr01: good
Missiledine: "Do you want to go in Lord Athamar, or do you want to wait out here?"
Dukejr01: I will lean a team, Thank you. This is rather personal. Should I lead one of the priests to the place where we found the undead?
Dukejr01: "Your Reverance"
Dukejr01: <pardon, busy typing>
Dukejr01: lean = lead
Missiledine: "Yes, that would be an excellent idea." The Abbot agrees
Dukejr01: <shall we have J and A stay together?
Dukejr01: that would be quickest and easiest
Missiledine: <Might make a nice change>
tacit01: no separate chat!? What's the callenge in that?
tacit01: How can I plot A's demise when he's right there... watching...
Dukejr01: okay. A takes a team with J and miklas and one of Boma's men. We want to make sure that each team has a guide.
Dukejr01: <I thought your insidious plan was to marry A and produce half-demon heirs?>
Missiledine: Ok, the team with one of the Priests, his name is Derek and he wears the red sash of having the Vow of the Champion, will
accompany your group to where the skeletons were.
tacit01: <you wish - J ain't havin' sex with A>
Dukejr01: <your loss>
Missiledine: The other priest, the Lt. and a Guard NCO will lead teams and Ollyn will take the last group.
Dukejr01: A leads the party into the tunnel toward the large open cavern. Well, Miklas leads.
Missiledine: Derek will order the Guards with the drakes to take point and rearguard
Dukejr01: the priest is named Derek?
Missiledine: You arrive at your newly created stone wall without incident
Missiledine: yes
Dukejr01: okay. A will cast stone shape and move a corner away. we chuck a con light in and peek before opening it all the way.
Missiledine: "Is this the place, Lord Athamar?
Dukejr01: "Yes"
Missiledine: When you open the corner, the Guard pushes the drake through and sprays the area beyond. Then backs away to toss the light stick
in
Missiledine: Nothing seems to happen... no movement is seen or sounds heard
Dukejr01: no surprise
Dukejr01: were they briefed?
Missiledine: yes
Dukejr01: okay
Dukejr01: Athamar moves the stone away so we can see,. if its clear, he moves it over to clock the first entrance to the room.
Dukejr01: block
Missiledine: Derek sends the Guard in first. "Let us handle the Undead, Lord Athamar. The Guards weapons are consecrated for just such a
purpose."
Dukejr01: Athamar nods.
Missiledine: How are you blocking the entrance?
Missiledine: With your bodies or stone?
Missiledine: Never mind, stone
Missiledine: I re read the post
Dukejr01: A would like to completely block two entrances with stone. and leave the third for ingress. if the Priest approves, A can out a low stone wall over the
third so it is easier to defens
Dukejr01: defend
Missiledine: Once the first opening is sealed (There are, I think, only two to the room.)
Dukejr01: okay. I thought there were three
Missiledine: The priest will lead the way into the room. He stands and surveys it for a minute then calls the guards and you and Jacinta into a
huddle
tacit01: <ok, coach, man-to-man or zone defence this period?>
Dukejr01: <bad sign>
Dukejr01: <Bolshevik half-back stepped on my head, coach!>
Missiledine: "This is what we will do. Spread out in a line and work our way up the room, breaking jars as we go. Save the drakes until we have the
undead massed in one area. I will force them to retreat ahead of us."
Dukejr01: Athamar nods. "Very well. Lets get to it then>
Missiledine: "Once they are grouped we will torch them and hack the remainders to bits"
tacit01: right
Missiledine: The Guards spread out in a line. "Put your people in the second rank, if any braek away you will deal with them."
Dukejr01: A lines his men up. A stays near Miklas.
Missiledine: "once there is a clump we will all attack as needed."
Missiledine: On the Priests signal the Guards begin toppling jars... There are at least a hundred unbroken jars in the room, though there are gaps
between them where many have disintigrated over the years. Each row has maybe ten jars (intact) and the first three rows prove to be empty.
Then on the fourth row you find the first skeletons
Dukejr01: how many?
Missiledine: As the jars tumble over and shatter, the Sketons begin clambering to their feet. The nearest guards will close in and hack it down if
opportunity presents itself, but in most cases Derek steps forward, holding aloft the silver Sword and Flames of Mitra and speaks a few words of
Power and the undewad start falling back.
Dukejr01: Xool
Dukejr01: cool, even
Missiledine: The first row had six skeletons, two were destroyed by the Guards, the rest retreated... The second row had eight, they all retreat...
Missiledine: The third row has ten, but this time Derek's efforts seem less fruitful. Four retreat, but six advance to attack....
Dukejr01: how many Sacrum?
Missiledine: Guards will move to intercept, and the NCO's will call for your line to move up..... There are six Sacarium Guards
Dukejr01: A orders his men forward.
tacit01: Onward, into the breach
Dukejr01: that should be 2 to 1. then.
Dukejr01: <lol. good one>
Missiledine: Fortunately the Skeletons that have already been turned remain hovering at the back of the room
Missiledine: As trhe melee developes several jars in the next row are knocked over, three more skeletons are moving forward. Derek is unable
to confront them to turn them away
Missiledine: <Hang on, rolling dice>
Dukejr01: ack.
Missiledine: Jacinta, you have one facing you, Miklas will be with you too
Missiledine: Athamar, you and one of Boma's men and a Sacarium Guard are confronted by two Skeletons...
tacit01: got it
Missiledine: The skeletons, though fast by Undead standards, are still slower then the professionals facing them, so they will strike last in the
round
Dukejr01: righto. A will defend. He doesn't want his attack to screw up the fighter types.
Missiledine: <Athamar, what weapon are you using?>
Dukejr01: staff.
Dukejr01: havea big skill of 8!
Dukejr01: whee!
Missiledine: Jacinta, you scored a hit, which the Skeleton failed to parry... Miklas' attack is dodged...
tacit01: huzzah!
Missiledine: The blow is not the best you've ever landed tho and the skeleton attacks you with his shortsword
Missiledine: Athamar, both the fighters score hits, but fail to take it out. The skeleton attacks the Boma fighter
Missiledine: Jacinta, you fail to block and the skeleton lands a blow. Only 1 point of damage will get through your armor tho
Missiledine: The Boma fighter blocks the attack
Dukejr01: A will attack next round.
Missiledine: <How? one handed, two handed?>
Dukejr01: the staff is two handed.
Dukejr01: A has no shield/
tacit01: ok - swing and block routine...
Dukejr01: <puzzeled>
Missiledine: <ok, it can be used one handed as a broadsword type attack>
Dukejr01: oh,. cool. I thought it was a 6 foot staff.
Missiledine: <Even so, you take a shorter grip on it>
Dukejr01: 2 handed
Missiledine: Jacinta, you hit again. A better blow this time... It shatters a leg and the skeleton goes down, but it is still active and dangerous
Missiledine: Maklas brings his blade sweeping around and takes the thing's head off
Missiledine: Miklas
tacit01: Check for another opponent
Dukejr01: <ah. hot chocolate.>
tacit01: <Jacinta all out attacks the hot chocolate>
Missiledine: Athamar... The Boma fighter steps in, swinging with his sword and hits the skeleton in the rib cage. The blade seems to bind and the
creature will be grabbing at the man as he tries to free it. The Sacarium Guard attacks, but the skeleton parries... You bring your staff whistling
down in an overhead attack. The skeleton, locked up with the Boma fighter, is unable to dodge, and takes the blow...
Missiledine: at the shoulder... shattering it
Dukejr01: Athamar is kinda surprised.
tacit01: <Go Athamar!>
Missiledine: <So am I>
Missiledine: <Rolled a 5>
Dukejr01: <lol>
Missiledine: You probably saved the Boma man from a nasty mauling
Missiledine: He twists his sword free of the broken bones and nods his thanks before advancing into the frey
Missiledine: fray
Missiledine: Jacinta, you see one of the Guardsmen beset by two skeletons, he is cut off from his companions
Dukejr01: A moves on to help another. preferably he will come from the side and be able to all-out-attack for +4 to hit.
Missiledine: ok
Missiledine: The Guard and the boma man have advanced and are aiding other combats... You see Derek help one of the Guardsmen who has
staggard back, bleeding from a nasty wound to the face
tacit01: J will move to assist the guradsman - are the other skeletons also armed?
Missiledine: all the skeletons are armed with either shortswords, spiked mauls or hand axes
tacit01: K - fist attack will be all out, +4 to hit the nearest skeleton's weapon arm
tacit01: then swing & block routine
Missiledine: J.. You attack one of the skeletons, hoping to take it unawares, but it reacts faster then you thought and parries the blow with its
shortsword. However, either the blade was old and weakened by rust or cheaply made, because it shatters on the parry
Missiledine: A living opponent would have been surprised by the weapon breakage, but the skeleton reacts by throwing itself at you in an attempt
to pull you down
tacit01: <goody> she'll try to keep her shield between the skeleton and herself
Missiledine: It has grappled you, but lacking any flesh it has no weight and is unable to overbear you... it's clawing is futile against your armor (at
leas this round)
Dukejr01: <good rule!>
Missiledine: The guardsman is able to concentrate on finishing the other skeleton, he yells to you, "I'm coming! Hang on!""
Missiledine: <thank you>
tacit01: <very nice> she'll use the pommel of her sword to bash at it
Missiledine: Athamar. No one seems to need any rteal help, except maybe Jacinta and she's on the otherside of the melee. For the most part the
fight seems to be well in hand
Missiledine: ok
Dukejr01: A will go around to her.
Missiledine: The skeleton is clawing at you and trying to bite your face... You hammer at it with your pommel and can hear it's bones snapping
under the blows, but its still clawing at you!
Dukejr01: <exciting>
Missiledine: The Sacarium Guardsmen is still ocked in combat with a skeleton that is remnarkably lucky at parrying
Missiledine: <What are you doing this round? Same as before?>
tacit01: Same as before, unless there is a wall nearby she can slam it into
Missiledine: About eight feet from you, if you run straight at it
Missiledine: wall?
Dukejr01: <do it!>
Dukejr01: <hee hee. that is what Corren would do>
tacit01: If it won't separate her from the party too much, she will
Missiledine: Charging the wall you slamn the skeleton against the stone. You can hear more bones snap and the skeleton's grip around your
body slips away. It's still 'alive' though and suceedes in sinking its age yellowed teeth into your left cheek! You will be able to step away and
disengae after that
Missiledine: <Remind me not to give anyone a hard time about spelling in the future!>
tacit01: aargh! - she will <any damage from the bite?>
Missiledine: 1 point
Missiledine: lot of blood tho... will need to have it tended lest it scar
tacit01: <ouch - might leave a scar> any other opponents?
Missiledine: you still have an active, tho damaged, skeleton in front of you
Dukejr01: A will help the sacrum guard
Missiledine: ok
Missiledine: You can come up behind the skeleton and attack it from behind
Dukejr01: okay./ all out for +4 to hit
tacit01: ok - if it's no longer grappling, than hack at it
Missiledine: Athamar... You swing, two handed, striking the creature full across the back (just made that one!) the blow sends it stumbling forward
to the guardsman who hacks at it again while side stepping its advance. Between the two of you it collapses to the floor...
Missiledine: J. You attack, the skeleton, slowe by its damage is unable to dodge, and you cut clean through its body and spine, sending the
broken bones clattering to the floor
Dukejr01: A looks around for more opponents.
Missiledine: The fight is pretty much over... There are two skeletons still being hacked apart by Sacarium guards, but that is it. A round later, its
finished
Missiledine: As everyone stands, catching their breath, Derek calls out "Injuries?"
Dukejr01: Athamar sees to the men. wounded?
tacit01: good - J will rejoin the group, try to stop the bleeding from her cheek
tacit01: "2 minor wounds here"
Missiledine: One Sacaium Guard took a slash to the face. One took a stab to the arm. A Boma man has a scratch... and Jacinta
Dukejr01: A tends wounds with his bag o' herbs and stuff
Missiledine: Derek has already worked on the first guard, with the face wound. Looking the group over he decides Jacinta is the next worse and
goes to her
Missiledine: "Hmm." He murmurs as he takes a cloth and cleans away the blood. Closing his eyes he lays his hand on your cheek and whispers
a prayer. Immediately the pain is gone
Missiledine: So is the wound. "Put some salve or grease on the skin a couple times a day for the next five days" He says. "That way there will be
no scar."
Dukejr01: A hands her some salve from his stuff.
Missiledine: Miklas laughs, "We wouldn't want that pretty face scarred! We don't have that many of them to look at."
tacit01: "Thank you <insert title for priest of Mitra>"
Missiledine: <Father, Reverence>
Missiledine: Derek goes on to the other wounded
tacit01: Father
Missiledine: Once all the injuries are tended Derek says. "Lets finish this."
Dukejr01: Right. we line back up.
Missiledine: The line reforms and advances to the next row of jars. Derek says, "It will get harder to turn them as we get closer to the back wall.
Watch out, they may charge."
tacit01: <J would have fluttered her eyes, overacting at being coy>
tacit01: <right - KILL!>
Missiledine: This row only has three Skeletons left in it (the rest have already been dealt with) and the Guard are able to dispatch all three before
they can get to their feet to fight.
Missiledine: The next row is completely intact and as the jars are knocked over one skeleton after another appears until there are eleven of them.
Derek speaks the Holy Words and three of the skeletons retreat to the far end of the room, the rest advance. Without waiting your orders
Athamar, your people advance to join the front line
Dukejr01: Right. A advances too.
Dukejr01: <good thing we called in the Abot, I am thinking>
Missiledine: Again the room is filled with the clash of steel and the grunts and curses of the fighters. Tho skeletons of course are silent
Missiledine: J... You have one opponent... A.. what are you doing? Holding back or attacking?
Missiledine: you don't have anyone at the moment
Dukejr01: A attacks preferably a skeleton that is occupied. all out +4 to hit.
tacit01: swing, block, call the wrath of Mitra down upon the animated bones
Missiledine: <I always like to give my spell casters a chance to decide>
Missiledine: J... you had a critical hit... wiped the creature out with one blow, cut off its head!
tacit01: <very comassionate of you, Oh Wizard Oh Wise One>
Missiledine: A...you miss completely
Dukejr01: A grunts
tacit01: Woo Hoo - it Mitra's wrath that does that, ya know - J finds another to attack
Missiledine: The line of fighters press the attack home. A living opponent would be giving ground, but the undead know no fear and keep on
coming
Missiledine: A.. you attack again, the Skeleton continues attacking the Sacarium Guard in front of it.. again you miss
Dukejr01: <sigh>
Missiledine: J, the nearest skeleton is engaged with a Boma fighter.. You attack and strike a glancing blow that seems to do no real damage but
draws the creature's attention on to you... it attacks with its axe, but you turn it aside with your shield
tacit01: ah, well - keep swinging
Missiledine: next round... A. You finally land a blow with your staff, swiping it in a backhanded attack that strikes the skeleton across the legs on
its weapon side. The blow knocks it to the ground, allowing the guardsman to finish it
Dukejr01: Woohoo!
Missiledine: J...Your attack is parried by the skeleton, and the Boma man misses his chance.... The skeleton hacks at you... and again you turn it
aside
Missiledine: Next round... A. You are free this round. J. You attack again.. and hit it hard, sending it staggering backwards to be hit again by the
other fighter. It breaks up from the blows
Dukejr01: A surveys the battle and looks behind the party to make sure the A-holes who we are looking for aren't sneaking up on us
Missiledine: Looking around you see that the fight is about over... Miklas is wrapping a cloth around the upper part of his shield arm where a sword
sliced the muscle..... No sign of anyone
Dukejr01: A goes to aid Miklas
Missiledine: A few seconds later it is over
tacit01: regroup, prepare for the next wave
Missiledine: Again Derek calls "Injuries!" Two Sacarium guards are hurt, one seems pretty serious, the other is a scratch. Miklas' is not life
threatening.
Dukejr01: "Glad its not militia doing this."
Missiledine: Miklas nods, "Yep, there would be a lot of widows tonight."
tacit01: how many jars are left?
Missiledine: There are eleven skeletons crowded against the back wall. Derek tends thge seriously wounded Guard, then comes over to Mikla.
He looks at the wound then shakes his head. "O'm sorry, you'll have to wait. I need all the rest of my energy."
Missiledine: There are perhaps twenty unbroken jars

Dukejr01: hmmm... A does his best for Miklas.
Missiledine: The line forms up again. Derek says, "This is the last time I will be able to turn. After this there is nowhere for the undead to retreat to
and they will attack."
tacit01: Jacinta nods understanding
Missiledine: "Ready the Drakes!" He calls. The two guards with the tubes unsling them and light the wicks.... "All right! Lets do it!" The next row of
jars are shattered, revealing eight skeletons... five will retreat before the power of the Priest, the other three attack but will be quickly dealt with by
the Guard
Dukejr01: Good
Missiledine: You now face the last row of unbroken jars.. there are a few scattered ones in the remaining fifteen feet of room, beforew you get to
the clumped skeletons... This is where you destroyed the other group.
Missiledine: Derek says, "I will try to turn, but I don't think it will work." He looks tired
Dukejr01: how many jars?
Missiledine: The men kick the jars over, seven skeletons roll out of the wreckage...Scrambling to their feet. None seem to be affected by Derek's
efforts, though some seem reluctant to advance
Missiledine: The Guard moves in, along with the second line... The combat begins... You hear Derek yell, "Use the Drakes!"
Dukejr01: A attacks.
tacit01: kill (or re-kill, in this case)
Missiledine: The two guards with the tubes let loose a stream of liquid fire that engulfs two skeletons, igniting the decayed rags and leather parts
of their decrepit armor...
Dukejr01: <damn undead>
Missiledine: The skeletons don't immediately go down like a living opponent would. They continue to attack for a round until the flames weaken
them to the point where their own weight makes them collapse
tacit01: <was wondering about that...>
Missiledine: Meanwhile..... J. You and a Guard are able to attack a skeleton from both sides... you both hit and it fails to defend either attack... but
it is still on its feet. and attacks you, but misses
tacit01: wow - swing again
Missiledine: Athamar... You find yourself facing a skeleton all by yourself for a round. Out of the corner of your eye you can see Miklas charging in,
but he won't be there till next attack....You swing and hit (Surprise!) and the thing fails to parry it, but you don't take it out. It attacks, you fail your
defense...2pts through the armor
Dukejr01: ow
Dukejr01: got it.
Missiledine: Next rd... J. You attack.. hit It parries. The Guard, hits... The skeleton fails to dodge and it goes to pieces
Missiledine: A.. Miklas shield slams the skeleton, sending the bag of bones flying across the chamber to smash into a wall. He follows closely to
hack it down before it rises

Dukejr01: A moves along....
Missiledine: Once again the skirmish is coming to a close... Derek has backed out of the fight and is watching the remaining skeletons closely. He
says to you. "Thank Mitra they are as dumb as posts! Intelligent opponents would have smashed the jars as they retreated across the room."
Dukejr01: "We wold have needed the whole crew here."
Missiledine: There is a lull, the atttacking skeletons are bone meal... Derek calls "Injuries?" Other then you, no one responds
Missiledine: "Mitra's blessings!" Derek sighs. "My Lord, shall I heal you now?"
Dukejr01: A patches himself up
Dukejr01: "Rest. Its not deep."
Missiledine: Derek nods and turns back to the skeletons. The two guards with the Drakes are pumping them up to recharge them. Everyone
seems ready. There are 16 skeletons and three unbroken jars at the end of the room, some fifteen feet away.
Missiledine: 'This is it." Derek calls. "Drakes to the flanks."
Missiledine: The guards with the tubes move to either end of the line and stand ready. "On my signal," Derek looks up and down the line.
"Advance!" The whole line of fighters will move forward. The Fire Tubes discharge at about five feet, engulfing four skeletons in flames. The rest
of the line crashes into the animated bones which seem quite willing to fight
Missiledine: A, where are you? In or out of the fight?
Missiledine: J.. you will have two against you this round
tacit01: ok - swing & block
Missiledine: Your opening attack will miss completely
Dukejr01: A stands out of the fight ready to step in and defends someone.
Missiledine: Ehh, J...The first skeleton attacking you rolls a 3! You will take four point through the armor... The second will also hit.. you fail to block..
another 1pt through the armor
Dukejr01: ow. A goes to help her.
Missiledine: Next round one of the Guard will engae one of the two skel;etons
tacit01: um - ouch?! <how many points were healed previously, 1 or 2?>
Missiledine: 2
tacit01: good - swing & block again
Missiledine: you hit, barely, but it fails its defense, unfortunately its still with you and counter attacks... it hits your shield
Missiledine: A.. you step in and swing overhand (all you have room for) and miss completely. But you do have its attention for the next round
Dukejr01: goody! All-out-defend.
Missiledine: J.. You attack and hit it hard, but it's still a going concern... A, it attacks you with its sword, thrusting at your belly, you barely avoid the
blow!
Missiledine: Next rd.... You hear someone scream in pain.... J, you miss. The creature continues attacking Athamar...who is desperately fending
it off with his staff
tacit01: J will try to get in front of it, so that it can't attack A
Missiledine: Next rd... J....Crit hit! (Again!)... You hack through it's spine just above the pelvis, shattering the spell that animates it and sending it's
bones scattering

Dukejr01: A backs off and sees to the person who screamed
Missiledine: Another skeleton, spinning away from a blow by a guardsman, comes up facing Athamar... A will swing, missing
Dukejr01: oops
Dukejr01: scratch last
Missiledine: <I know>
Missiledine: The skeleton will attack with an axe... missing.. it's movement seems restricted by a crippled leg, probably a gift of it's last
opponent....
tacit01: J will defend A
Missiledine: The guardsman who sent it stumbling in your direction, follows it, striking from behind as you swing again... He hits, you miss and
almost drop your staff.. The skeleton attacks and you manage to dodge it handily
Missiledine: J attacks and misses badly, being wrong footed by the need to spin around to face the skeleton (also a roll of 17!)

Missiledine: Next rd... The skeleton is, remarkably, still upright.. The Guard attacks, J attacks, A attacks... All three of you hit it (!) and it is
shattered into its components
Dukejr01: Wheee!
Dukejr01: A then goes to see to the guy who screamed
tacit01: J will find bones to smash, or an ally to aid - or both
Missiledine: You all look around in time to see Derek smashing a skull to smithereens with his mace... the fight is over. There is a Guardsman
down on the floor. The hilt of a shortsword projecting from his belly
tacit01: <ouch>
Missiledine: There are three untouched jars. Derek waves at them. "Deal with those!" He goes to the downed man
Dukejr01: A does so.
tacit01: to the jars!
Dukejr01: <Once more into the breach!>
Missiledine: Everyone surrounds the three jars. The Drakes are reprimed. A guard carrying one says, "Someone flip the lids and we'll cook em in
the pot."
Dukejr01: A extends his staff.
Dukejr01: a think this will be fun
Missiledine: The guard raises the drake, waiting...
Dukejr01: <probably a nastier critter in this one or something>
Dukejr01: A flips the lid
Missiledine: You flick the lid off and he squirts the burning oil down, into the jar... The jar begins rocking as the flkames shoot out the top... then it
falls over and breaks, revealing a mass of charred bones and a shortsword
Dukejr01: neat
tacit01: hee hee
Dukejr01: do the same for the others
Missiledine: He starts repriming while the other man goes to the next jar
Dukejr01: Athamar chuckles in grim satisfaction
Dukejr01: next
Missiledine: The same thing happens, but this time the jar doesn't fall over... The rocking stops after a few seconds and smoke rises out of it
Dukejr01: peek
Dukejr01: "Potted undead critter" <like potted meat>
Missiledine: You see the top of a boney skull and it immediately begins to rise up
Dukejr01: next
Dukejr01: oops
Missiledine: (Sorry, I was onto the next jar already)
Dukejr01: oh!
tacit01: hack it off at the neck

Dukejr01: A doesn't peek at it before it gets flamed.
Missiledine: The flame inundates it as it rises and it stands there flailing wildly as everyone steps back away from the splattering fire
Dukejr01: he peeked at the second one that didn't fall over

Missiledine: ah.. my misunderstand
Dukejr01: that works too
Dukejr01: Okay. lets police the area and get the wounded man on a litter.
Missiledine: It's over... all the jars are broken, all the skeletons shattered
tacit01: It's Miller Time!
Dukejr01: A suggests that we return to the main courtyard and allow the priest to rest, get the wounded man put and report to the Abbot.
tacit01: oh, by the way - ouch!
Missiledine: Using shields the guard makes a litter and they pick up their comrade. He's alive, just, thanks to Derek who looks exhausted
tacit01: I second that
Missiledine: Derek nods and you all head out
Dukejr01: A picks up all his cont lights.
Missiledine: Counting the ones you destroyed earlier, you took out 47 skeletons
Dukejr01: not as many as A feared but more than could be easily handled.
Missiledine: As you make your way to the surface, Derek says "Anyone that was bitten or scratched. Please see the Abbot later, in case there are
any diseases or infections."
Dukejr01: A notes who among his or Boma's men were.
Missiledine: ok
Dukejr01: A will make a point to make sure they do so.
tacit01: yes, boss....
Dukejr01: A Lord's got to know these things....
Dukejr01: <African or European swallow?>
Missiledine: Arriving at the surface you make your way down to the Abbot. He is sitting on the chair, sipping wine and listening to the Lt's report..
On the ground is a pile of weapons.. You see more Guards carrying out armfuls more.
Missiledine: The Lt is saying, "... the jars are full of them. Maybe enough to arm two hundred men. No maker's mark on them either."
Dukejr01: A raises and eybrow and goes to look. He signals for his men to put their armfuls down too.
Dukejr01: A looks at the arms. good quality? better than the skeletons?
Missiledine: The piles are of three types, either shortswords, axe heads without handles or spear points without shafts
Missiledine: Yes, they look brand new
Missiledine: mostly axes and spears
Dukejr01: A whistles.
Dukejr01: "Strange"
Missiledine: Well, never used anyweay. They have clearly been stored for some time
Missiledine: The Abbor picks up a sword and examines it. "May be one of the old Duke's secret caches... May be something more sinister."
Dukejr01: Is our wounded man out?
Missiledine: He looks at you and Derek. "Looks like you had some exercise."
Dukejr01: "I am glad you and your men are here, Your Reverance. I would have lost a number of men without the expertise of the Sacrum Guards and Father
Derek, here."
Missiledine: Derek says, "Your Reverence, one man is seriously injured." He points to where they are laying the guard on the ground. The Abbot
frowns, passes the sword to Athamar and levers himself out of the chair
Dukejr01: A looks at the sword. then absently hands it to Miklas.
Missiledine: He goes to the man, kneels next to him and examines the wound... After a few moments he lays hands on it and closes his eyes. You
can't hear the prayer but you see his lips move. The Guard groans, but seems to relax. Satisfied, the Abbot sits back on his heels and says.
"What happened?"
Missiledine: Derek will look to you, Athamar, to see if you speak first
Missiledine: (Few more minutes here)\
Dukejr01: "We cleared the room where the first half dozen skeletons were discovered by my men the other day, in total, 47 undead were hidden in clay jars." A
gestures to the pile of weapons we brought with us.
Dukejr01: "Father Derek, was, of course, instumental. There were a number of minor wounds." A looks pensively at the wounded man. "Will he recover?"
Missiledine: "Hmm." He clambers to his feet, aided by the Guards. To the Lt he says, "Did you see anything else?'" The officewr shakes his head.
"No sir."
Missiledine: The Abbot nods, "Yes, he will be fine in a few days."
Dukejr01: <time check>
Dukejr01: A looks relieved
Missiledine: From another entrance you see the other priest coming out with his group. He is carrying a strange looking square rack with a crystal
dangling from the center of it. He comes directly to the Abbot.

Missiledine: <I know, a bit more to wrap up>
Missiledine: It's about 1
Dukejr01: k, A will see to lunch after hearing whatthe priest has to say
Dukejr01: Also, we should get the wounded man to the manor
Missiledine: Bowing slightly the priest says, "There is no living creatures larger than a rat in the structure. The last indications of necromantic
enchantments have disipated. There is no trace of Demonic essence anywhere to be found.. We did not find any indication of a mass of silver or
gold. We did identify iron and steel which has been recovered." He nods to the weapons. "I believe it to be clean."
Missiledine: "Hmm," The Abbot looks to you. "What do you think, Lord Athamar?"
Dukejr01: "I detected silver the other day. Seems they took it with them.
Missiledine: "Undoubtably." The Abbot seems to think for a moment. Then he crooks a finger at a young boy of about 14, one of the Sacarium
Guard. The boy hurries over and holds out a wooden case for the Abbot. He opens the case and removes an ornately carved horn.
Missiledine: Holding the horn with the wide part to his ear and the tip to his mouth he says, "Your Eminence. I wish to report that the Fangs have
been cleared.... No, no loss of life, minor injuries for the most part.... around fifty skeletons and a large cache of weapons.... Yes, we do not need
any more troops.... I understand... Yes your Eminence. I will." He puts the horn back in the case
Dukejr01: <phone home>
Missiledine: "Bishop Durr sands his thanks, Lord Athamar. We are always glad to clear up a nest of evil."
Dukejr01: Athamar bows slightly. "It is I who is grateful"
Missiledine: "He will let Duke Demetrius know that the cavalry troops are not needed and they will be recalled."
Dukejr01: A nods
Missiledine: "So, that is setteled! Let us have som,e lunch, then we shall decide what to do with this heap!"
Dukejr01: A gives orders to that effect. first. get the wounded man to the manor
Missiledine: Derek says something to the Abbot who turns to Jacinta. "You were bitten my dear? Please let me see."
tacit01: she does
Dukejr01: A gets people moving back tot he manor. He sends a messenger to Gallus informing him that we are coming back and to have lunch ready for the Abbot
Missiledine: He presses his palm to your cheek and again closes his eyes and whispers a prayer. "There, no ill shall come of it. Not that it was
likely, but better to be safe. Any other injuries then?"
Dukejr01: "Miklas"
Missiledine: "No, no, no, My Lord! We shall pcnic here, then finish up." The Abbot says when he overhears your orders
tacit01: she points out her 4pt & 1pt that have not been tended yet - also mentions Miklas, any others she is aware of from our group
Dukejr01: "Oh, I see." Athamar shrugs. Nevermind then.
Missiledine: The Abbot, Derek when he is recovered, and the other priest will attend all the injuries, A's included. Only the one guard need go back
to the manor
Dukejr01: A sends him back with militia
Dukejr01: Was lunch delivered like A ordered Gallus to do?
Missiledine: "There is a task for you to do inside, Lord Athamar. Then we shall be finished." THe Abbot says. "But first, food!"
Missiledine: yes
Dukejr01: good
Missiledine: and we wrap up here for the night!
Dukejr01: k
Dukejr01: night
tacit01: yeah!
Missiledine: good night, thanks
Dukejr01: thanks for running us.
Missiledine: A GM without players is lonely, thank you
Dukejr01 has left the room.
