Okay, if combo is impossible, Seleniadriel
does not punch, she just moves her weight
swiftly backwards, kicks the slaver into
groin with the other leg in the hopes of
forcing him to release the leg.
If slaver gets stunned and loses grip,
Seleniadriel lands onto her feet with a
backflip -
But if the grip is maintained, Seleniadriel
crashes down onto the ground.

Your opponent has both arms wrapped
around your leg between ankle and knee.
You kick out with your free leg as you throw
your weight backwards.
The kick misses his groin but strikes a
powerful blow to his right leg, eliciting a
grunt of pain and causing him to lose strength in
that leg. He pitches forward as you go
down.
Unfortunately his grip does not come loose
You are now on your back, he is on his left
knee, his right leg, at least temporarily
useless, trailing behind him. He lunges
forward in an attempt to pin your upper body, but
because of his awkward posistion and
weak leg,he is unable to get the leverage to
advance past your waist. Your arms are still
free and you still have a grip on your sword.
Beyond, in the tunnel, you can see the
Goblin from before, advancing with a
savage grin of delight on his face. He carries a baulk of
firewood that he obviously intends to club
you senseless with.
You hear the human voice call again, "I
want her alive! She's worth a fortune!"

Seleniadriel sits up and grapples the slaver
ontop her legs with her shield arm so that
the shield is behind the human slaver and
unready (but does not interfere with her own
attacks). Next turn, she punches the human
slaver into his head with her sword
pommel.
Seleniadriel shouts to the slaver boss while
fighting in close combat:
"These dimwits are trying to break my
bones and kill me!"
Her only legal defense against the Goblin
outside the close combat is to dodge with
penalties, so it is very unlikely that she can
avoid any club hits (which btw are at -2 to
hit, as per B114). However, as the tunnel is
narrow, Goblin is restricted to thrusting
attacks only unless he can get past Seleniadriel,
yes?

At the moment, and for at least this round
and the next, the tunnel will be blocked by
the convulsion of the close combat between
you and the human. The Goblin is clearly
trying to judge his timing to allow him to jump into
the fray without landing on his ally.
Your opponent is trying to translate his
grapple of your lower body into a pin of your
upper. Because of the nature of your being,
hollow bones and designed to fly, he out
weighs you by a fair bit (90lbs vs 160lbs)
and is quickly able to force you flat, pinning
you to the ground.
(The presence of your shield is also a
hindrance in close combat, despite how
you try and hold it.)
From back in the cavern you hear the
human reply, "Then drop your weapons and
surrender you fool!"
You still manage to strike with the pommel
of your sword, though your upper body is
pinned and your shield arm encumbered by
the shield and its posistion behind your
opponents back, your weapon arm is still
relatively unhinderd.
You get a solid hit up along side his head,
and you can see by the dazed look in his
eyes, that it was effective. (He is not out, or even
completely incapacitated, but he will be
able to take no action but defend himself next
round.)

She shouts in response: "Fine, I will
surrender, but if any of you try to mistreat
me in any way, as in trying to humiliate, torture or rape
me, I will immediately kill myself and put a
curse on you all!"
She drops her sword and releases her grip
on the slaver.
She looks at the slaver who pinned her and
speaks with respect in her voice: "No
mortal has ever defeated Seleniadriel of clan
Silvermoon before. Your skill is impressive,
who are you?"

Seleniadriel: "Not unless you were my
instructor in the arts of war, Vance..
Really, you should know better than to
expect a Dark Elf warrior let herself be
enslaved. Do anything to dishonor me and I
will sell my soul to Blar the Devourer
just to put an eternal curse on you all. Make
no mistake, if I want to, I can kill
myself even if restrained."
She smiles and goes on with more friendly
tone of voice; "Sorry about those goblins,
but I was in a real bad mood, being recently cast
out of my clan and all, nothing personal
really.. Look, I wont be your toy, but now that
I think about it, I do have a suggestion
which you might find of interest - How would
you like to earn ten-thousand or more per
share with little risks?"
"Now, Mr. Vance, if you would be so kind
as to get off me so I can get
up and we can go have a word with your

Pushing past the glowering Goblin is a
human dressed in the robes of a Priest of
the Scarlet Cult. He carries a handful of chains
and manacles. He passes them to the
Goblin.
"Secure her." He commands. "And don't
spill any more of her precious blood then
you must! Every drop is worth three times its
weight in gold!"
He smiles in an unsettling way, "Ten
thousand Elf? We'll drain a hundred times
that much from you! And don't worry about
giving your soul to Blar, its been quite
awhile since one of your kind screamed out their
life on the Dark One's Altar.... He will
welcome you with open arms!"

Seleniadriel responds: "Well spoken, priest. I
know his infernal majesty will welcome me
with open arms - when it is my time to return."
Suddenly her body twists and her skin
appears to boil for a while (3 seconds) as she
resumes her natural form (but she leaves her
wings small enough to fit in the tunnel).
Veleda, with an evil grin which reveals her
white fangs as she speaks: "I am Lady
Veleda, I serve as a scout for the demon
legions of Blar the Devourer.. I am here to
inspect and test you."
She smiles and shows Vance her claws,
trailing the claw of her index finger down his
cheek (without drawing blood, but leaving a
red trail into his skin);
"Vance, I advise that you get off me at this
point.. If you like having your 'Viper' attached,
that is."

Vance immediately rolls off you and
scarbbles backwards, rather crab like, in an
effort to distance himself from you. As he
goes he asks the priest, "Is...is...Is that real?"
The Priest frowns and makes a gesture with
his fingers, then his frown deepens.
"What is the meaning of this? Why are you
here?" He demands, "Why did you attack
us?"
The Goblin, still holding the chains looks back
and forth between you and the Priest. He is
clearly confused. "You want I should chain
her?" He asks the Priest. In response the Cult
Priest holds up one finger in 'wait' gesture.

Veleda gets up, and resheaths her sword. As
she does this, she speaks: "What name do
you wish to be called with, priest?"
She goes on, as she brushes herself off and
rearranges her now long and black hair;
"I attacked you in disguise only to test your
soldiers - I am not entirely satisfied, but not
entirely displeased by their performance
either.. Heed my words - never ever leave
your campsite without guards outside it, real
soldiers of the Slayer would not be as kind as
I was towards your
soldiers and they usually go in groups.. Now
that we are properly introduced, I wont harm
any of you, unless you ask for it."
"I am a scout of the legion and I am allowed to
travel wherever my duties require. I was
ordered to run this small errand when my
other duties took me into the vicinity. Now, all
work that remains for me to do here is to
check out you and your slaves - I am
searching for certain individuals
and I need to see everyone who is in this
cave. I do not have too much time to spare, so
lets get over it, shall we?"
Then Veleda looks down on her torso and
notices her bleeding wound, she dips her
fingers in the blood and licks them clean; "Oh
my, Vance sure has a strong sword-arm, you
are very fortunate to have him.. Give me a
bandage or
something before my dress gets all messed
up."

The Priest does not answer your question
about his name. Instead he calls out, "Gharan,
Perce.. You there?"
From outside the cave entrance you hear a
human voice call, "Aye, we're here... You want
us inside?"
The Priest replies, "No, stand ready." To you
he says, "The entrance is not unguarded. Tho
you entered unimpeded, you would have been
shot dead if you tried to leave. Now," He
crosses his arms coolly. "By who's authority
have you come to inspect and test me? Who
authorized you to kill my servants as part of
this test? Who shall be responsible for their
blood money? And, who opened the Gate to
let you into this world, Lady Veleda?"

Veleda: "My time of arrival and means of
entry to this world are strictly on need to know
basis, as is the identity of my immediate
superior - Suffice it to say that I serve the
legions of Blar the Devourer. But if you swear
an oath to keep it secret, I guess I could draw
the sign of my superior onto your palm - I
haven't been forbidden to
do that.."
(If the priest agrees, Veleda pulls her claws in
and uses her finger to 'draw' the sign of some
greater demon - who has lots of
servant-demons, but who might not even
remember ever seeing her if asked - onto the
priests palm so that the
others cannot see it.)
"Priest, as commander of your soldiers, you
will be responsible for the blood money for
now, but if you are deemed worthy, my lord
will compensate later, maybe
even reward you. And really, it seems to have
eluded you that I killed only one of your
goblins - The other one was killed by the
actions of one of your own soldiers..
Speaking
of blood, I am leaking all over the place, how
about a bandage?"
"If you will not cooperate now, my lord will be
displeased.. In that case mere blood money
and explanations would not save you - After I
return, my lord will relive my memories, and
he might take it sort of personally if you have
been anything less than helpful with me.."

Still frowning the Priest agrees and holds out
his hand. His expression does not change
one bit as you draw the symbol, but he does
step back to let you pass into the interior of
the cavern. The area here is now quite
crowded with at least nine more Goblins and
humans, all are in armor or still buckling their
armor on. The priest speaks a curt word and
someone hands you a wad of clean cloth.
No one speaks, all are clearly waiting a sign
from their leader as to what to do. As you
bandage the wound you notice that the Priest
seems to have reached a decision. "Perhaps
you would care for some refreshment, Lady
Veleda? After your exercise. Vance, bring
Lady Valeda wine and some fresh meat."
Looking to you he says, "Do you prefer your
meat raw or cooked?"

Veleda, with a subtly seductive smile: "This
depends entirely on what kind of meat is in
question, but I usually do prefer my meat hot
and well done.."
She carefully looks over everyone present
around the firepit. Then she proceeds to do
the same to the captives held further back in
the cave. Even though this looks like she is
searching for someone or inspecting the
soldiers, actually she is trying to memorize
their faces and she is
making mental notes of what kinds of
armaments and armors the soldiers have at
their disposal.
It is now becoming increasingly more clear to
her that alone she would have no chances
against this cruel and efficient military unit,
despite her overconfidence. However, in case
she can in the near future find someone with
sufficient strength, numbers and willingness to
defeat this group of slavers, she tries to
gather useful bits of 'reconnaissance'
information into her mind.

(You have not been allowed deep enough into
the cave to see any of the captives. You are
still in the outer chamber with the firepit. If you
try to move towards the back opening, to
where you presume the captives are, the
Goblins will block your way.)
The priest gestures towards a blood
splattered tray. "One of the captives was too
weak for the journey, so we performed a
somewhat impromptu sacrifice of one of the
Sky God's faithful. I shall have one of my
servants prepare some for you."
Following his gesture with your eyes you
realise that the meat the slavers had been
cooking upon your arrival, was human flesh.
The Goblins present are in an assortment of
studded leather and scale armor, with small
or medium round shields and a variety of
helms. Most of the humans are similarly
attired, but there is one man that catches your
eye, a hulking, stonefaced brute in lamellar
armor. He is a brooding
presence that even the biggest Goblins keep
a healthy distance from.

(A demon by default propably has nothing
against eating the flesh of other sentient
beings. While Umeida would not actually kill
anyone sentient for food, she sees nothing
wrong with eating the flesh of already dead
being if there is no way to resurrect the said
individual. Not that she would actually like the
taste of human flesh - She prefers game
animals like deers or rabbits.)
Veleda, nods and replies to the priest
casually: "Sure, thanks. I'd like to have my
piece well done, with some salt."
She picks up a small glowing red bit of coal
from the firepit, and puts it into her mouth and
starts chewing it with no ill effect. Then she
takes a few steps towards the back opening
and says: "I shall check out your captives
while the meat cooks."
As she notices that goblins move to block her
access, she turns towards the priest, her eyes
narrowing in suspicion: "As I can see that the
individual I am looking for is not in this
chamber, I need to see your captives.. Why is
it that these goblins attempt to block my
access, do you have something back there
that you are trying to hide from my lord?"

not have any rights to question them.. So, let

The Priest, followed by Vance and two of the
Goblins and the unidentified hulk in lamellar
armor, will lead you back through the front
cavern down the short connecting passage,
into the next chamber.
This is a much larger room and shows signs
of extensive mining and engineering. The
chamber is roughly rectangular and is 45'
wide and just short of a hundred feet long. You
have entered on the middle of a short (45')
wall. The room stretches away from you. The
first 40' or so of the room
consists of a combination dining area and
torture chamber/play room. To your right is a
long table with ten or twelve stools and
benches scattered around it. The remains of
a hastily abandoned meal, consisting of both
human remains and some unidentifiable
meat, fills the platters. Looking beyond the
table to the right hand wall, you can see
another opening to a further chamber, but the
entrance is curtained off with blankets and
hides. Along the walls to your right are
shelves and barrels, urns, crates and baskets
of supplies and equipment.
To your left is a large, upright wheel, a pillory,
stocks, whipping post and chains on the walls
and dangling from the ceiling. There is also a
brazier of glowing coals and a rack of
branding irons, several of which are in the
coals.
The pillory and the wheel and whipping post
are presently occupied with two young women
and a middle aged man, respectively.
Looking further down the room, you see that
the entire right side of the room, starting at
about the forty foot mark, to the back wall, is
occupies with three large cells made of one
inch iron bars set about five inches apart.
Each cell is about 20'x 20'. Two of the cells
have captives in them. It looks like five in one
and six in the other. Age and gender cannot
be determined from where you are standing.
The left side of the room, from the torture area
to the end wall, is an open area with piles of
sacks and baskets along the left wall. At the
far end is a
massive iron door that is closed.
The Priest waves his hand, allowing you the
chance to inspect at will. One of the Goblins
picks up a coiled single tail whip and offers it
to you, with a nod to the three victims.
The Priest picks up a goblet from the table
and takes a sip. "Go ahead, indulge yourself
until your meat is ready."
All three show signs of their recent rape and
torture. They have the marks of the whip on
their flesh, as well as the fresh brand of their
new owner, the Cult.

Veleda smiles at the goblin: "Whips are not
my style, not painful enough to suit my tastes, I
find whips so.. mundane" <shows her claws "If
I were to indulge myself, I doubt any of my
victims could walk tomorrow, or have
much sanity left. Once I start, I find it very
difficult to stop.. So, I think I'd better not
indulge myself, it would not be very
appropriate of me to ruin
your merchandise.." She looks at the priest
and winks an eye: "But thanks for the offer, it
is the thought that counts."
Then she proceeds to check all of the
captives from close range, trying to memorize
their faces. Without being seen to do so by
the slavers, Veleda swiftly uses one of her
claws to cut off small amount of hair from one
of the young women and then places it under
her belt.. A wizard could use this later to track
the captive magically.
Deep down she feels frustrated that she
cannot help these poor captives right now in
any way. Even that big brute of a slaver all by
himself looks like tough enough to take on a
hellraker and win. Nonetheless, she uses
her demonic willpower to conceal her
emotions behind a wall of mental energy. She
must be able to get help for these people, and
for that end she will have to play a role of an
ordinary evil demoness.
When she is done checking all of the
captives, she returns to the priest; "Now I
know for sure that the one or ones I seek are
not in this room. Are there any more captives
or your people behind that metal door?"

When you look in the cells, which are kept

The cleric shrugs when you decline to torture
the captives and gives you no more then a
casual glance as you study the prisoners,
though the big guy keeps a close eye on
you. But when you ask about the door his
demeanor changes, like you have said

Veleda: "Like I said, I have strict orders to the
effect that my means of entry and time of
arrival are on need to know basis. I am sorry,
but I am not at liberty to discuss these topics
with you. I do not know or understand why this
is so, but that is hardly rare about the
missions my lord sends me on - I am
expected to do what I am asked
effectively, and not to ask any questions."
"I assure you that I have no ill will towards the
Cult or you. If my lord really had ill will towards
the Cult, I am sure he would have sent
something much more
formidable, like a group of hellrakers and a
malebrachne with very different orders - This
would have been quite easy to him, for he is
very powerful.. It is very propable that as this
door is not directly relevant to my missions,
my lord did not waste any words telling me
about it. Anyhow, I think that my lord sends me
whenever he does not want to draw too much
outsider attention, like running an errand. If he
wanted to make moves against the Cult, I am
absolutely certain he would not begin by
sending me here alone."
With a slightly hurt expression she goes on;
"Frankly, I feel insulted that you can even
suspect me of partaking in
activities against the Cult. I am just a lone
demon scout on a mission to find certain
individuals my lord seeks, not a backstabbing
assassin involved in the internal power
struggles of the Cult. I have never understood
this paranoia that seems to exist between the
followers of the dark lore. I know my place in
the order of things, and I don't waste my time
brooding over who of my brothers and sisters
of the dark lore is going to backstab me - I
have more important things to do, and I
believe so do you. In the name of Blar the

some covert task to complete."
The big man speaks again, despite his
rumbling voice he sounds well educated and
he speaks to the priest as an equal, not a
servant. "Are you sure she is what she
appears to be?"
"Her Aura is correct," The Priest answers.
"As is her appearance, and she is immune to
flame."
"All of which could be accomplished through
spells." The big man replies.
"Maybe she is an Elf bitch!" Vance says.
"They are all wizards, right?"
"It would be a tremendous drain to keep such
protections running constantly." The Priest
says.
"Unless she has an item, or items aiding her."
The big one says.
"True, but I detected no magic on her." The
Priest answers
"That is odd in itself, wouldn't you say?" The
Big fighter rumbles. "Besides, as we well
know, any item able to alter an aura would be
designed to be undetectable, and would
probably render all other magic
undetectable."
"She fought with a wooden sword." Vance
offers
"A wooden sword?" The fighter rumbles.
"Surely such a device must be magical, why
else use it?"
"Hmm," Murmurs the Priest. He looks at you.

"Wood it is made of is not of this world, only
place where such wood grows is on my
homeworld, on beaches of the flaming lakes -
Such wood is tougher than iron, as you may
notice."
"If undressing can be called an art, I tend to
think of myself as an artist.. So, sit back, relax
and give me some floorspace, I will show you
what no elven bitch would never do. If only I
had music in the background, this would be

Then Veleda proceeds to use combination of
her singing, dancing and sex appeal skills to
remove her clothing in a very seductive and

As you go into your performance the men and
Goblins in the other chamber crowd the

the Goblins already in the chamber also show
their enthusiasum for the show.
Only the priest and the big fighte seem to
remain impassive through it, but you think you
detect a glint in the priest's eye that makes
you think it had some effect.
The big fighter snaps an order and two
Goblins scurry around, gathering your things
and laying them on the table for examination.
The priest turns his attention to the various
articles for perhaps half a minute, stacking
them neatly to the side as he finishes with
each piece. Then studies you with a more
then mundane appraisal. Finally he says,
"She's a hundred percent Hell Spawn." He
turns to a Goblin.
"Bring her meat." He turns back and studies
you with a speculative eye. "The only question
is who are you serving?"
A goblin will hurry in with a platter of still hot
gobbets of flesh and hold it out to you.
