Session 3
Docportal: I conture to wait for the officer. I
walk over to my armor and other stuff and
start to put the stuff back on. Thin I return to
the door where the officer is.
Missiledine: When you start to pick up your
armor, the officer says, "You shan't be
needing that at the moment."
Missiledine: The Watchman that went on into
the balconey calls out, "We've got a man
down in here. T'ain't movin any."
Missiledine: The officer looks at you, "Is that
the slave?"
Docportal: "Yes, sir"
Missiledine: "Let's go take a look." He makes
an 'after you gesture' for you to go first
Docportal: I go first
Docportal: (How are we geting down?)
Docportal: (I blow out most of the room.)
Missiledine: When the three of you are on the
balcony, the Watchman ties off the rope to a
secure part of the building and clambers on
down. The officer takes the
crossbow from him, but makes no move to
follow
Missiledine: He indicates that you should wait
up here as well
Docportal: "Can I get my stuff the slave took
from me?"
Missiledine: Once the watchman is down, the
officer unloads the crossbow and drops it to
him. He reloads it, then makes his way,
cautiously, towards the body
Missiledine: "We'll see to it in a bit." The
officer says. He looks around casually, "So,
your a mage?"
Docportal: "Yes, sir. But I did not start these
fires."
Missiledine: The Watchman crouches over
the form and the officer calls, "Is he dead?"
Missiledine: The watchman calls back, "As
mutton."
Docportal: "It most have happened in the fall."
Missiledine: "Any papers or brand?" The
officer asks. The watchman searches the
body, pushing at his sleeves... "No, no
papers... No brand either."
Missiledine: The officer looks at you, "No
brand, sir."
Docportal: "He was hiding his arm form me."
Docportal: "And he try to kill me."
Missiledine: "Hmmm." The officer replies.
"What killed him?" He calls to the watchman
Missiledine: "Hard to say... Need a Priest to
tell for sure... He's pretty scorched up... but it
may have been the rock that is halfway
through his chest."
Missiledine: The other watchman comes in at
this point. "No sign of anyone else, sir." He
reports
Docportal: "They is a string attacht to the vain
in the window you came thought. What do you
make of that?"
Missiledine: The officer nods and says, "All
right, go on down and help Kyle bring op the
body. And see if anyone else is lurking
around down there.... Oh, and this
gentleman has some property to recover...
What is it exactly?"
Docportal: An ax and a cross bow
Missiledine: The second watchman nods,
"Aye, I saw that. An alarm of some kind."
Missiledine: "Right," Says the officer "Bring it
all up. And see where the string goes.... You."
He turns to you
Docportal: "Yes, sir?"
Missiledine: "We'll have to sort this all out
down at the jail, you understand. Until then,"
He takes out a pair of manacles. "These are
regulation."
Docportal: "Before you put thos may I put my
stuff in my pack?"
Missiledine: "Hmm, very well. But don't try
anything you won't live to regret." At a signal
from the officer the second watchman lines up
his crossbow on you.
Missiledine: The officer rests his hand on his
sword hilt, ready
Docportal: "Yes, I will go willingly." I go and
start putting stuff in my pack.
Missiledine: They watch closely until you are
finished
Docportal: "Do you want me to carry it or the
horses?"
Missiledine: When you are done the officer
says, "Hands behind your back please. We
will take it from here."
Docportal: "Yes, sir." I follow his orders.
Missiledine: When the manacles lock in place
you are instantly aware of a change... your
magery is gone.
Docportal: "Magic manacles?"
Missiledine: The first Watchman, Kyle, has
dragged the body over to the rope and is
tying the rope around the chest
Missiledine: (Are you asking?)
Docportal: (Yes in game.)
Missiledine: "You are not the first mage wev'e
had to arrest in Glenluce. Don't worry, the
effect is only while the manacles are on."
Docportal: "So I will be waring them in jall. I
get you have to do it."
Missiledine: The second watchman will
descend and the two will begin searching the
entire first floor. They have taken out their
watchman's lanterns and are poking
around in all the corners
Missiledine: The officer watchs them and you,
he nods. "We have cells with more permenant
effects if they are needed."
Missiledine: A pile of stuff is deposited by the
body, the axe, the crossbow and a large sack
that clanks a bit
Missiledine: Finally they are satisfied that
there is nothing else to find. The stuff is
handed up, then the watchman climb up and
lastly the body is hauleds up.
Docportal: "The Crossbow and ax are mine.
Could you hold on to them for me untill this is
done?"
Missiledine: The officer takes you and your
pack outside to the horses and the fourth
watchman
Missiledine: "I'll make a note of it, sir."
Docportal: "Thank you, sir."
Missiledine: And he does, taking out a pad
and writing it down
Missiledine: "Now sir." Once you are outside.
"What exactly happened in there?"
Docportal: I go outside. reply to the officer. "I
came in to the building looking for slaves. I
walk out to the balcony and the man jump me.
Taking my ax and cross bow from
my pack. and ran down the strais in to the
shadows."
Docportal: "Then open fire on me with my
cross bow."
Missiledine: He makes a note of this... "
Missiledine: "Go on."
Docportal: "I created a stone missile and
tryed to hit him. But I thoght I miss him."
Missiledine: "mmm, hmm."
Docportal: "I created a fire ball to light the
place up some. Then he hit me with an arrow.
I droped the fire ball."
Missiledine: still taking notes
Docportal: "I guess I did start these fires.
Sorry I forgot I had try to use a fire ball as
light."
Missiledine: "Uhmmmm"
Docportal: "I cast a return missile. And hit the
man with the arrow he planed for me."
Missiledine: "I see.."
Docportal: "Then the place started to fall
apart. I ran back to the room you came in to."
Docportal: And look to see if he was following
me. That when the stiars fell.
Missiledine: "Ok..."
Docportal: "I bandage myself and then you
show up."
Missiledine: He finishes writing all that down.
"And that iis what happened?"
Docportal: "Yes, sir"
Missiledine: "You can read of course? Would
you look this over and see if it is accurate,
then sign it?"
Missiledine: He hands the portable desk to
you.
Docportal: Yes I can read, sir. I would be
more than happy to look it over.
Missiledine: The two watchman are now
dragging the body out the window and
struggleing to get it down the slope.
Missiledine: While you look it over, the officer
will climb back up the slope to talk to the
watchmen and look at the body and the stuff
Docportal: "Also would you get my staff?"
Missiledine: (With your hands locked behind
your back, you can't sign anything, but the
transcript the officer made seems accurate to
you.)
Missiledine: He nods in agreement as he
climbs
Docportal: "When you get done I need one of
my hand freed to sign the notes."
Missiledine: The three of them remain up the
slope for several minutes, examining various
things and talking amongst themselves.
Finally all three men, the body and
all the stuff, your included, are down on the
ground by the horses
Missiledine: The Officer says, "Have you had
a chance to read the statement? Is there
anything you wish to change?"
Docportal: "Yes, I left out the part of him hiting
me with the ax. As I ran back to the room."
Missiledine: The officer makes a note.
"Anything else?"
Docportal: "He got me before I started to run.
That is this wond on my stomic."
Missiledine: "We will have that attended to
shortly." He makes another note
Docportal: "I think that is all. I was being
attack by a man. I was trying to stay alive."
Missiledine: "Very well then, sir. If you are
ready to sign?"
Docportal: "I will sign it if you free my right
hand."
Missiledine: Three loaded crossbows are
aimed at you, from very close range, while the
officer releases your right hand. The Magery
comes back when the manacle
opens. He offers you the pen and ink
Docportal: I sign the document and then put
the pin back down. Then give the officer my
hand back.
Missiledine: The manacle is relocked, the
magery vanishes again. The crossbows are
relaxed.
Missiledine: The watchmen bundle the body
up onto one horse, the collected stuff,
including your stuff on another. They off to let
you ride, considering your state, if
you wish
Missiledine: offer
Docportal: "I will take you offer to ride. It will
speed up the return to the town."
Missiledine: They help you up onto the horse
and one man will take the reins and lead. The
officer rides along beside you. "By the way,
are you Druidic?" He asks,
making a note
Docportal: "No, sir. I am a mage for the
Academy in Drunmore."
Missiledine: (He's aking about your religion)
Missiledine: (And you area Graduate of the
Academy, not for the Academy)
Docportal: (i ment from. Also I don't
remember what religion i am I am looking for
the file with that in it.)
Docportal: "I am a Druidic."
Missiledine: "I ask because many Druidic
followers are uncomfortable having a Priest of
Mitra performing the Truthsayer without a
Druid present. Whenever
possible we try to accomadate that."
(As I recall you chose Mitraen, tho your write
up shows a basic belief in magic over
religion.)
Missiledine: (Ok, Druidic it is)
Docportal: (Druidic is like mana.)
Missiledine: no, its not
Missiledine: "Will you want a Druid present for
the inquest?" The officer asks
Docportal: (Ok whatevery.)
Docportal: (I would like that. Sir.)
Docportal: ""
Docportal: "I would like that. Sir."
Missiledine: He nods and makes another
note
Docportal: I ask "How long is it going to take
to get back to town."
Missiledine:
(Only a few minutes The ruins are overlooked
by the city walls)
Arriving at the barracks, you are dismounted
and taken inside. A couple men pass you
carrying a stretcher for the body. The officer
says, "You will be taken to a
holding cell until the inquest. Your stuff will be
returned after you are cleared."
Docportal: "Thank you, Sir. Hope to be see
you again."
Missiledine: "You will." He assures you.
You are lead down a hallway to a series of
cell doors, one of which is opened and you
are let inside. Once inside, one of your two
escorts removes your manacles,
saying. "We'll put these on again for the
inquest, until then you will be more
comfortable without them." Tho you have your
magery back, you can tell that there is no
mana in this room.
Missiledine: The two will back out of the room,
close and bar the door. The cell is 8' x 8' with
a bench/cot a bucket for waste and a crock of
fresh water
Docportal: I ask "When might I get to see a
healer?"
Docportal: "Or a doctor."
Missiledine: There are no windows, light
comes from the cell grate in the door. "One
will be along in a bit."
Missiledine: They leave
Docportal: I sit down on the bed and wait for
the doctor/healer to get here.
Docportal: I will rest untill the inquest.
Missiledine: Your not sure how long you wait,
maybe a half hour, perhaps a bit longer.
Someone is at the door. The food slot slides
open and the manacles are
pushed through "Put those on and we'll bring
you out for a look at your wounds." A guard
says
Docportal: I put the manacles on.
Missiledine: A moment later the door opens
and the two guards come in, they check the fit
of the manacles, your magery is gone again,
then lead you down the hall
to a guardroom area. Waiting there is a
Priest of Mitra and a Druid. They indicate that
you should sit on a bench so they may
examine your wounds.
Docportal: I sit down. I ask them "I need to
change my plea. I was not thinking strate
when they ask me the question earlyer."
Missiledine: The Priest says, "You will have
an opportunity to speak at the Inquest." The
Druid is looking at your wounds. "Yes,
consider carefully what you say
once you are on the stand."
Missiledine: He will perform a minor healing
that will restore (3pts) and make you feel
much more comfortable
Docportal: Dose that remove the wound on
my stomic?
Missiledine: It closes it, but does not make it
vanish completely
Docportal: Ok. I ask them "Do you know how
long untill I enter the stand?"
Missiledine: The Priest of Mitra says, "The
Inquest is not a formal trial. It is held to
determine if a crime is comitted and a trial is
warranted. In some cases, where
guilt is obvious or a confession is made, the
Magistrate may pass judgement. But in more
complex cases a full trial is scheduled. Your
inquest will be in about an
hour."
Missiledine: The Druid says, "Though an
Inquest usually does not warrant an Advocate,
I will act as yours if you wish."
Docportal: "Thank you. Are the grauds going
to take me back to my cell? Or do I get to stay
here?"
Missiledine: "You will be returned to your cell.
If you wish me to be your Advocate, I will meet
with you there and we can disscuss the
situation."
Docportal: "Yes, plesa be my Advocate."
Missiledine: "Very well, I shall be along in a
few minutes."
Missiledine: The guards will take you back to
the cell and remove the manacles.
Docportal: "Thank you again."
Docportal: I wait for my Advocate to get here.
Missiledine: About ten minutes later the door
opens and the Druid comes in and sits down.
"Now, you say that you wish to change your
statement?"
Docportal: Yes.
Missiledine: "In what way?
Docportal: "The way things happened in my
statement are not correct."
Missiledine: "Go on."
Docportal: "Ok I entered the building."
Docportal: "I notics I have set off an alarme."
Missiledine: The Druid is listening attentively
Docportal: "I look around the room. Try to get
an idea where to go. I go out to the balcony."
Docportal: "The man, who I think is my slave I
am after, shots me with his crossbow."
Missiledine: "It is HIS crossbow?"
Docportal: "Yes, I was thinking to my self
when he shot me it would be nice to get the
crossbow from him."
Docportal: "I take some damage in the
shourder. I had created a fire ball. I thought
the fire in the area I though he had shot from.
Try to light up the area."
Missiledine: The Druid nods his
understanding
Docportal: "He runs to the other end of the
room. I came down the steps. Creating an Ex
fire ball. Then throw it in the last area I had
seen the man."
Docportal: "During the time I try to thorw the
ex fire ball the man try to shoot me with his
bow again. Missing that time."
Docportal: "I had done some damage to the
building and to him i thought."
Docportal: "Then I got down behind a plie of
stuff on the floor and cast return missile."
Docportal: "I also hear stuff behind me when I
had sanded up the man shoot at me again.
This time he hit himself. Do to my return
missile spell."
Docportal: "Then he ran off to one of the other
room and I guess got his ax."
Missiledine: "HIS axe?"
Docportal: "Yes the axe and the cross bow
are/were his."
Docportal: "I made a torch out of what was left
of the fires buring. And walk toward the room I
had heard sounds from. Then he hit me with
his axe."
Docportal: "I turn and ran back up the steps
trying to creat an ex fire ball. Once done I turn
around and hit him with it. He fell back down
the steps. I ran the rest of the way
to the main room, where I had entered."
Missiledine: "Go on."
Docportal: "Then when he try to come up the
steps again the steps and all fell. I had
created a stone missile try to get ready for
him."
Docportal: "I peek out of the door way. he was
down on the ground. I hit him with the stone
missile. I was try to mack sure he was out for
a little wait. I need to bandage
myself I was bleeding bad."
Docportal: "Then the watch men show up. I
had stop the bleeding but not rested very
long."
Docportal: "That is how it happened."
Missiledine: "Hmm, is that it then? Is that your
ammended statement?"
Missiledine: "You lied to lay claim to the dead
mans weapons?"
Docportal: "Yes. Truthsayer will back me up."
Docportal: "No I did not lied on perpost. I was
not thinking right, I had lost a lot of blood."
Missiledine: "Very well, I will speak to the
Deputy and have the statement changed
accordingly. Yes, there will be a Truthsayer
done. If your new statement is
accurate, you should walk away with little
more than a slap on the wrist... Provided you
didn't give the Deputy and Watch a hard
time."
Docportal: "I will not. I would like to sign up
and help the Watch."
Missiledine: (Doc, I have to log off shortly.)
Docportal: Ok here is a good stoping point.
Missiledine: We can PBEM the actual inquest
