CST Series 2 Velitrium: Redlun Manor

Missiledine: Athamar has been settled comfortably in his bead and is surrounded by all his caring retainers (who are horrified at the prospect of
the gravy train drying up). Gallus summons Jacinta and Ollyn to lay out his plan of action
Dukejr01: heh heh
Dukejr01: that and redlun would fall to Taciter....
Missiledine: "Jacinta, go to the village and round up all the militia. Gather carts and wagons, get them hitched up anf loaded with brush, fodder,
anything that will burn... We will smoke that bastard out!
tacit01: "militia and flammables - got it - Is anything required from the manor?
Missiledine: "ollyn, get three men mounted and have them take posistion around the Fangs, in case anyone tries to leave. Don't try and stop
them, just make a note of their trail
Missiledine: "Bring the militia back here."
Missiledine: "Don't wait for the wagons, get the rest of the villagers working on that."
Missiledine: Ollyn departs
tacit01: "yes sir" and off she goes to the inn
Missiledine: When the militia arrive, Gallus will leave one Man at Arms and five Militia, along with Nordan, Bragan and Tassiter to guard the
manor, "less this is an elaborate ruse to draw us out."
Missiledine: Jacinta, you arrive in the village
tacit01: <does J know that before she leaves?>
Missiledine: no

Dukejr01: good idea
tacit01: is there something there to ring the gong with?
Missiledine: yes, a striker is hanging there
tacit01: k - Jacinta bursts into the in, announces "the militia ha been called up - Lord Athamar was wounded at the Fangs", turns around, goes out, and rings the
gong
Missiledine: Yarling will follow you out onto the porch, "What?"
Missiledine: As you begin ringing, people stop what ever they are doing and start coming to the inn. Both those in the village and those out in the
fields
Missiledine: Since the harvest is in, all that they are doing in the fields is tending stock, so most people are somewhere right around the village
and the crowd quickly gathers
tacit01: We were securing the Fangs when Lord Athamar was shot by a crossbow. He is being tended, and should recover. Gallus has called for the milita to help
secure the area and catch the shooter. We are also to bring brush, fodder, or anything else we can burn to smoke them out."
Missiledine: The crowd mills about for a few moments, clearly absorbing the news, then they spread out to make preperations
tacit01: "The milita is to go up with me; the carts of fodder can follow as they are made ready"
Missiledine: It will take about fifteen minutes to get the men armored and outfitted
tacit01: "Master Yarling, perhaps you can suggest someone to oversee the preparation and transport of the fodder after the militia has departed?"
Missiledine: He still looks a bit stunned by the news, but he nods and says that he will see to it. Then he goes to get his armor and weapons
Missiledine: Soon the men are assembling. You can hear them talking about who is still missing.. A couple men who were furthest away in the
fields, but they should be here soon.
Missiledine: There is some discusion about whether they should bring their armor and kit or leave it for the men who are undoubtably headed
back to the village... It's decided to bring it
tacit01: "who is missing?"
Missiledine: finally you are as ready as you can be.... three men who were out with the sheep
Missiledine: the rest of the village, those men not in the militia, women and older children are working on filling the farm carts and wagons.
Horses, and a few oxen, are being lead out and hitched up.
Missiledine: It will be another fifteen to thirty minutes before all the wagons are ready
tacit01: Jacinta will learn their names, than put someone in charge of preparing the fodder (for accountability's sake) - prob an older man
Missiledine: Yarling already did that

Dukejr01: we could change the name to "manore" is sounds so chic and classy. maybe after we install the cont light glass chandliers and the silk bedecked salon
Missiledine: When you arrive, you find Gallus and Ollyn and three other men at arms, waiting by the gate. Gallus points at five militia, "You, you,
you...." Stay here and guard Lord Athamar and the Manor House. The rest of you, with us." He starts out at a brisk walk.
Missiledine: To you (Jacinta) he says, "The caryts?"
Missiledine: carts
Missiledine: <What room are you planning for the harem?>
Missiledine: <Manore is too much like Manure>
tacit01: <is the manor on the way to the fangs - in other words, is it more efficient to gather the carte at teh village or the manor?>
Dukejr01: oh,. Athamar is not interested in a serangalio, they will stay in his bedroom. which will be expanded and have a balcony

Missiledine: carts are starting in the village, they will head directly across the fields to the Fangs, no need to go by the manor

Missiledine: It is almost a mile from the manor/village area to the Fangs. Mostly open meadow and fields. Ollyn grumbles, "They know we are
coming for sure by now."
Missiledine: You presently have a force of 23 men, with three more expected shortly
Missiledine: <Sorry, 21 men, two women>
tacit01: I inform Gallus that 3 men were not mustered; it was believed that tehy were tending their sheep and should be arriving shortly - the other militiamen brought
the kit for those 3
tacit01: also tell him their names
Missiledine: Soon you are climbing the slopes to the entrance area... Ollyn has those men with crossbows spread out and watch the walls as you
enter.... He aknoeledges your information
tacit01: "shall a few go in to make sure the ramparts are unmanned before the main body enters?"
Dukejr01: Truth is often ugly
Missiledine: Ollyn has the main body spread out, with the missile trops acting as a skirmish line..."No, if they are holding the battlements we'll
need the crossbows to clear them, and we'll need them in quantity." Ollyn replies
tacit01: jacinta nods consent
Missiledine: You have 11 militia with crossbows or prodds, and six with slings.. the rest have spears
Missiledine: All of your men at arms have crossbows or bows
tacit01: Jacinta will ready her bow as well
Missiledine: The last part is done in a rush... There is no sign of any resistance as you enter the courtyard area. You can hear the men of the
militia breath an audible sigh of relief at that

Missiledine: Ollyn places the troops on the raised battlement overlooking the courtyard. He puts two men, with crossbows, in front of each
opening along the top and has the slingers divided between watching the lower entrance and the higher points
Missiledine: Then Ollyn and Gallus go into a huddle. After a moment Gallus calls Jacinta over
tacit01: how many exits are being covered?
tacit01: she approaches (also switched to sword)
Missiledine: All of the upper entrances into the main courtyard have two men in front of them. There are seven all together...
Missiledine: Gallus says to you.."You and Ollyn and Miklas are the ones who have been inside. Take 4 men and go down one tunnel. Ollyn will take
four and so will Miklas. I will keep the rest as a rescue force and to get the brush andflammables ready."
tacit01: so 14 men being used to cover entrances, of 23 milita?
Missiledine: Not going to leave all 14 outside once you start
tacit01: k
Missiledine: Which tunnel do you take and what weapon assortment do you want? The slingers also have spears, but the slings are useless

Dukejr01: may I suggest anything? or shall I just shup?
Missiledine: One of the militia men on the battlement calls to say that the three missing men are coming up the hill now. He waves to them
tacit01: Jacinta went to the pool, so she should probably retrace that path and explore from there
tacit01: can J get 2 spewarman, and 2 with clubs/swords and crossbows?
Missiledine: Dave will take over the character of Ollyn for now

Dukejr01: okay. how about using the slingers in the two courtyards? say, three slingers/spearmen and one man at arms in each to act as a reserve and nail the guy if
he is flushed out of the tunnels?
Missiledine: Gallus agrees
Dukejr01: allrighty. do you want to keeop the two pcs together?
Missiledine: doesn't make sense, but if you want to I don't care
Dukejr01: distribute balls of twine to each group of searchers, and cont light objects.
Missiledine: ok
tacit01: I'd say no, split us up
Dukejr01: well, I was wondering if you would prefer it if it makes it easier for you
tacit01: chalk too
Dukejr01: yes. every group should use a different symbol
tacit01: but it is easier for GM, who should be kept happy at all costs
Missiledine: No big deal, I can handle two... It will get interesting with four or more tho

Dukejr01: you mean npc group?
Missiledine: no, Tuesday night
Dukejr01: oh. k.
tacit01: wanna run us in the chat or IM's when we split?
Missiledine: However, we will be using the individual IM screens for a lot of this tonight

Dukejr01: okay. 26 men, that include gallus?
Missiledine: yes
Dukejr01: okay. 8 are in the courtyards. that leaves 18 men. we should make sure that people havea call sign so we don't attack eachother accidently.
Missiledine: Ok, like what?
Dukejr01: we could do 6 groups of 3. if there is only one bad guy, 3 will be enough, but no garuntee of that.

Dukejr01: something simple, the sniper will possibly hear it and start using it himself, but the point is to stop and make sure you are not attacking in panic.
Missiledine: Gallus will take charge of the outside group. He thinks 3 groups of five. That leaves a squad of reinforcements that can go without
leaving the courtyard unprotected. Also, he will need bodies to move the brush etc while the guard is maintained
Dukejr01: good idea.
Missiledine: "Use Lord Redlun's name." Gallus suggests "As the password."
Dukejr01: lets start in the second courtyard sending two groups into the two tunnels leading the directon the sniper went originally, J can lead another group down
to the water source and start there

Missiledine: As you disscuss the plans, the three missing men enter the courtyard and begin gathering their kit. They are a bit out of breath.
Missiledine: "Good point." Gallus agrees
Missiledine: "Now we have enough men that you can take five with each of you." Gallus observes
Dukejr01: Ollyn heads off
Missiledine: Miklas and his squad follows you

Session 14 Continued: Duke playing NPC Ollyn
Dukejr01: right. Ollyn uses the tunnel to the other courtyard, cursing hte magic that cut them off when they get to that entrance. he puts miklas on point and has
crossbowmen cover the exits and moves his troops by twos whn in the open
Missiledine: ok, you will only have Miklas through this courtyard, then he takes his group and splits off
Dukejr01: righto.
Dukejr01: "Good luck, Lad"
Missiledine: Miklas nods, "You to Uncle."
Missiledine: what is the exact break down of Ollyn's squad, crossbow vs spear? Your call
Dukejr01: not really too necessary at the moment.
Missiledine: like to know, for the record
Dukejr01: okay. shoot
Missiledine: I'm asking you... 3 cbow, 2 spear or what?
Dukejr01: oh!
Dukejr01: yes. that sounds good.

Missiledine: You get across the courtyard without incident
Missiledine: You have all the opening under guard... What now?
Dukejr01: ollyn has his sword out, he details one CB and one spearman to cover the rear, one Cbman and one spearman on point. the spearman gets a cont light
object.t he third cb is paired with gallus.
Missiledine: Gallus is not with you

Missiledine: Miklas takes his group into the other tunnel
Dukejr01: point men in first. then gallus and his paired cb man, then the rearguard
Missiledine: other than Ollyns C light, you have two more with your group

Missiledine: yes, but you need to drop the torch to defend with the shield
Dukejr01: okay. well, that is optional for the spearmen then. gallus will have a torch and a cont ligh object. he will drop his torch if he goes into a fight.
Missiledine: Why a torch and a CL?
Dukejr01: i mean ollyn!
Dukejr01: extra light, and a fire source if it is needed
Missiledine: ok
Dukejr01: The group proceeds downt he corridor at a deliberate pace.
Missiledine: You advance as far as Ollyn went in pursuit of the attacker. The tunnel descends sharply, then goes straight away for some distance
Dukejr01: okay. keep an eye out for boobytraps, look for dust on the floor and tracks thereof
Missiledine: There are cobwebs hanging all over the place, many may have been disturbed, but its hard to say how long ago.
Dukejr01: allright.
Missiledine: overall, the tunnels aren't that dusty
Dukejr01: k. ell keep moving
Missiledine: The entrences are up high and the land around them is mostly green
Dukejr01: eh?
Missiledine: RE: the lack of dust
Dukejr01: oh.
Missiledine: The tunnel levels out, ahead you can see what looks like a pile of rubble and dirt, maybe a cave in
Dukejr01: okay. move more cautiously. check the ceiling, when e get to the pile. look closly at it before moving on. we are moving cautiously in case the pile hides a
sniper
Missiledine: You advance with crossbows ready... The pile is about 6' high at one side of the tunnel, tapering down to two feet at the other. It looks
like time and weather shifted a big stone and it let a landslide of dirt and smaller stones in. At the low end of the pile is a clearly used path of
beaten earth
Dukejr01: hmmm.... chalk the wall. check the prints. lok for identifying marks. look for discarded detrius
Missiledine: Nothing obvious to you
Dukejr01: okay. move on
Missiledine: Ahead, on your right, you see a large opening
Dukejr01: okay. get close enough to toss a torch and toss it in the opening. usea crossboman in overwatch position and move in.
Missiledine: (Ollyn, you are aprofessional fighter... These men are not. Don't expect too much from them.)
Dukejr01: okay. ollyn explains what to do, and he takes point moving in.
Missiledine: Looking through the opening you see a large, oblong chamber stretching away from you about fifty feet. It is maybe 30' wide
Dukejr01: okay. "You two" pointing at the rear guard. "guard the rear. the rest with me. spread out, stay in pairs." Ollyn moves in and checks out the room. watch
check ceiling and floor. if there are no other exits, we go pack to the corridor and move out.
Missiledine: ok, up in the right corner there is something odd. It's a dark pile on the floor
Dukejr01: shine the cont light on it. approack slowly
Dukejr01: "Cover that" he tells his CB man
Missiledine: "Looks like somebody has been emptying their chamber pot here." One man says
Missiledine: "Been doin it awhile too."
Missiledine: The man you told to cover the pile of dung starts chuckling
Dukejr01: Ollyn grunts. if that is all in thsi room, he says "Allright. lets keep moving. " He spares a brief sry grin for the CB man.
Dukejr01: wry
Missiledine: that is it
Dukejr01: okay. continue down the corridor.
Missiledine: Some seventy feet down you find another opening on your right, similar to the last
Dukejr01: same tactic. toss a torch in first
Missiledine: same room description
Dukejr01: okay, except no compost?
Missiledine: "Wonder what these were for?" asks one man
Missiledine: correct
Dukejr01: what does he have?
Missiledine: cbow
Dukejr01: oh, he was talking abouthte room
Missiledine: yes
Dukejr01: okay. Ollyn shrugs and tells em to move out.
Missiledine: from here the tunnel curves right about 45 degrees then splits with a ramp going up and a ramp going down
Dukejr01: okay. up. btw we recover the torches.
Missiledine: ok
Missiledine: Which way?
Dukejr01: like i said, up
Missiledine: '"Wait a minute." Says one man, pausing. "What's the worst thing about chamber pots?"
"The smell!" Another laughs
"EMptying them." Says a third
"Carrying them" Says the first. "How far would you carry one?"
Dukejr01: "Hmmm... good thought. just far enough so the smell wouldn't carry. and it would waft up. we go down"
Missiledine: He doesn't move. "we are what, two hundred feet maybe more from the pile now. I can't smell it now."
Dukejr01: hmmm... how close is the other chamber?
Dukejr01: to the first? close enough that the smell won;t carry
Dukejr01: ?
Missiledine: entrances are maybe 70 feet apart and the dung heap is back 50 feet in the corner
Dukejr01: lets go back to the second room
Missiledine: you've been down here maybe 30 minutes
Dukejr01: k
Missiledine: The second room is physically similar to the first, about 50' deep and 30' wide
Dukejr01: hmmm.. check the back wall. this room is shorter
Dukejr01: check all the walls
Dukejr01: and the floor/ceiling
Missiledine: All the walls are made of large stones, like the entire structure. The boulders are covered, sporadically, with strands of cobwebs and
trailings of dust, especially in the recessed areas. One part of the back wall, a boulder taht is about four foot high and three feet wide, somewhat
triangular in shape, is slightly recessed, but there are no cobwebs on it. One of the men, the smart one, points it out to you.
Dukejr01: "What is your name?" Ollyn asks of him. when he gets it he nods. "Right." then Ollyn checks the triangular stone out looking for other undusted areas to
see if there are any switches of panels. if not not he pushes on it.
Missiledine: You don't see any other likely spots... Putting your shoulder against it, it definitely feels like it will move and move easily.
Dukejr01: okay. Ollyn whispers "Get ready." he puts his sword away and keeps his shield, he is going to push the stone open, and move in when as soon as he has
enough room. he will be prepared to all out defend. the idea is to get inside the room quickly.
Missiledine: The rock slides back easily, though with a grating, rumbling sound. There is a small chamber beyond, perhaps twenty by ten. There is
no one here. But the room contains a cot, table, chair, a small (20gallon0 barrel on a stand, a chamber pot an oil lamp and a foot locker
Dukejr01: right. move in. unsheath sword. have one man stay here. that will leave two men in the corridor, one here to rely information/orders, and ollyn and two
men in the room.
Missiledine: ok
Missiledine: There is no one in here, other than you.
Missiledine: The ceiling is rather low, maybe 7' and the walls are the usual big block construction. But the room is clean and neat and tidy
Dukejr01: okay. carefully check under the cot and anyplace that might hide a man. have the smart man look for other secret places. and ollyn will look at the foot
locker. open it from the side with no one standing in front
Missiledine: No one under the cot... The foot locker opens easily. It is empty. The man with you (smart one!) says, "They even took their bedding."
Sure enough, there is a matress on the cot, but no blanket
Dukejr01: check the barrel and the oil lamp.'
Dukejr01: anything on the table?
Missiledine: The barrel has a spigot and bung. The lamp, is on the table, and is about a third full
Dukejr01: look at the lamp carefully. sniff the bung.
Dukejr01: see if the barrel has any manufacturing marks
Dukejr01: brands etc
Dukejr01: same with lamp
Dukejr01: look under the locker and under the barrel.
Missiledine: The bung smells of wine. The man with you says, "That was made here in the village (the barrel)
Missiledine: There is a makers mark on the lamp, but you don't recognise it
Missiledine: Barrel is less than a third full
Dukejr01: Ollyn grunts sourly. last things to check is the underside of the table.
Dukejr01: if there is nothing else, they leave. chalk a mark at on the entrance so it can be found later by a recovery team.
Missiledine: Nothing on the underside, but you see a scrap of paper on the floor under the barrel stand as you straighten up
Dukejr01: pick it up look at it.
Dukejr01: he is semi literate, i believe.
Missiledine: yes
Missiledine: It appears to be a list with numbers and dates and names... that is all you can determine
Dukejr01: what names?
Missiledine: not people, unit names. Army units
Dukejr01: make sure no one is looking over his shoulder
Missiledine: ok
Dukejr01: ah. ollyn carefully pockets the paper then.
Dukejr01: "Lets go."
Missiledine: ok
Dukejr01: mark the entrance.
Missiledine: Where to?
Dukejr01: how far to the courtyard?
Missiledine: which one?
Dukejr01: the near one. small. it should be a straight shot back.
Missiledine: yes it is
Dukejr01: okay. Ollyn thinks that this is important. "you four stay here. remain just inside this room so you won't be sniped from down the corridor. I am going to
tell the Lord's Steward what we have found, it may be important." Ollyn trots back down the corridor with the cb man to the small courtyard.
Missiledine: ok
Missiledine: you are there
Dukejr01: ya
Dukejr01: oh. we are there
Dukejr01: is gallus here?
Missiledine: yes
Missiledine: in the main courtyard
Dukejr01: what does Ollyn call gallus? gallus, Steward, hey man, old man?
Missiledine: Gallus
Dukejr01: they are old army buddies right?
Dukejr01: okay
Missiledine: not army, but old friends
Dukejr01: "Gallus, we found the lair. I found this." hand him the paper "the lair is in a secret room off the second chamber down that corridor. pushing on a rock
opens it. also, there is a large pile of shit in the first room, he has been there awile."
Dukejr01: "he cleared out"
Missiledine: Gallus moves away from the militia men and studies the paper..."Hmmm, this is a record of troop movements up the river to the
Rivermarch...It's about three months old."
Dukejr01: "I should continue down that corridor. We should clean the stuff he left behind out, including hte wine barrel from here in redlun. I marked the entrance."
Missiledine: "Ok, do what you think best."
Dukejr01: "Right" Ollyn returns to his men and continues dow nthe corridor at the split he goes down.
Dukejr01: as he approaches the second room, he says "Mitra"
Missiledine: "Errrr, uhh... Light?" Is the reply
Dukejr01: Ollyn doesn't eve nslow down. "lets go."
Missiledine: they follow
Dukejr01: at the split, go down.
Missiledine: ok
Missiledine: ffdf
Missiledine: sorry! spilled wine!
Dukejr01: ack!

Missiledine: Just a few drops, I was wiping it up

Missiledine: ok, down the ramp... The tunnel leads down, curving to the right and then leading back, underneath where you came from
Dukejr01: follow that path, oh, mark the path we took with chalk.

Missiledine: the tunnel is heading back the way you came... On the right you see another large opening
Dukejr01: okay,. same routine. toss in a torch. have my CB man cover while ollyn goes in
Missiledine: This is a shallow chamber, but it stretches out to your left a long ways, maybe seventy feet. The room is filled with pottery... mostly
large urns. The majority of which are broken, though not all. Theyt are clearly of Jhensari make
Dukejr01: okay. two men a the doorway to watch the corridor, then we move down teo the end of the room looking for tracks and disturbed cobwebs.
Missiledine: not a lot of cobwebs here
Dukejr01: okay. well, check the room out. look in a few urns go left until the whole room is checked.
Missiledine: there are definate paths through the pottery
Dukejr01: follow a path.
Missiledine: Well, the 'path's look like the date back from the original placing of the urns, some of which are quite big, and have clearly sat
untouched for centuries. If you look inside them it is obvious that at one time they held food, probably grain, but it is long since gone. Some, not
many, still have their lids on
Dukejr01: okay. do we see the end of the room?
Dukejr01: any other exits?
Missiledine: oh yeah, there is an end. No other exits
Dukejr01: okay. clear out continue down corridor
Missiledine: about a hundred feet down on the right is another, similar opening
Dukejr01: same routine'
Dukejr01: toss in a torch. move in.
Dukejr01: when he moves in he is ready to all out defend
Missiledine: Another room, similar to the last one, also has hundreds of urns, mostly cracked and smashed. Some are quite big!
Dukejr01: hmmm... look for exits.
Missiledine: like the last room, no other exits
Dukejr01: okay. keep going

Missiledine: ok, You advance up this tunnel.about fifty feet, it opens out into a large cahmber, so large you cant see the far wall. The ceiling is low
and supported by dozens of rough hewn stone columns, there is no regular pattern to their placement that you can see
tacit01: do we enter on a corner or the middle of a wall?
Missiledine: The room is not a regular shape. The Jhensari builders never heard of a level, square or plumb line. You are in a recessed bit of one
wall
tacit01: k - leave 2 at teh door with a cont light, J and 1 other will start to make a circcut around the room, following the wall to the right - they will keep the wall
about 30" to their right, so the cont light hits it - the other 2 militamen will be 30' to J's left, further in the room...
tacit01: essentially, J & her partner will be on the outside lap, the next pair on an inner lap
tacit01: we'll go about 75 feet and see what we can see...
Missiledine: Well, you move out, working your way along the wall which has a lot of twists and turns, indentations and alcoves. It isn't long before
you loose sight of the guards at the door
tacit01: stop there - any sign of the wall ahead?

tacit01: so the room continues out of our field of vision?

Missiledine: ok, as you pick it up, the men are at the entrance now, about thirty or forty feet from you and they are starting back down the
corrodor, tho going slowly so as not to seperate from you. Just as you start after them you hear a voice, just as clearly as if it were a few feet from
you.
"THey've left." It is a man's voice, rather gravelly sounding
Another voice, speaking polished, well educated Velitar says, "Good. It's your faul;t they are here at all."
You realize that the sounds are being carried to your ear by some trick of the stonework

The second voice says, "She's worth a lot of money you fool! You leave her to me! I want her untouched!" At the end the voice is fading like its
moving away

Missiledine: yes, its very simple. A three foot iron rod with a hook on each end attaches to a ring set in the wall of the interior of the tunnel, and
the other end hooks to the inside of the door. When in place the door can't be opened in either direction

and still not be certain to get enough smoke to fill every nook and cranny. Still, it may work."

Missiledine: The ox cart will arrive at the manor about twenty minutes later. Athamar, you will recieve word about the body

tacit01: "ok we'll have to compare notes on our exploration, start geting a rough map together - I found a HUGE room, that this smoke may not even touch unless
some of the tunnels interconnect

Missiledine: It is a moonless but starry night... something passes through the sky overhead, blotting out the stars in its passing... It is hard to jusge
size and shape... maybe a fifteen foot wingspan....
Dukejr01: as for the lack of miklas. Athamar talks to Ollyn and he is going to have to go find them.

Missiledine: no, higher. For you to get to him would mean climbing the sheer stone or going through the tunnels and finding a path. For him to get
to you....
Missiledine: Miklas raises his crossbow and sites on it, but then lowers it. Too far to do any good.
tacit01: so it's competely separate - how far away it is, and can I draw and ready my bow without revealing my position
Missiledine: In a straightline from you to it... 300 feet, all up. Yes, you think you can draw your bow safely.

Missiledine: In the dark it is just a form, but it furls its wings and seems vaugely man like, but much bigger.
Missiledine: It stands still for a moment, then moves back, out of sight

Missiledine: About fifteen minutes later it comes out and spreads its wings. Then it pauses, furls its wings and turns around for a moment. You
think you faintly hear a voice. Then the thing turns around, opens its wings again and takes off. Circles once, then heads west out of sight
